Has anyone used it?

There are two types:-
1. CellLog 8S - Cell Voltage Monitoring & Recording
2. CellLog 8M - Cell Voltage Monitoring

Both are being sold at hobbyking and progressiverc.

I was leaning toward picking up their Powerlog cause I want the optical rpm measurement. But some info here - might want to skip to some of the more recent posts -

it's a bit of a jack so i do apologise guys but i really can't see any point in a device like this.. so i've been back and forth from that page to the quanum telemetry system at HK trying to figure it out.. unless they're for post-run analysis and subsequent tuning of cars so close to the limit of what their electrics can handle or being delicately tuned to the fullest for each track that they need it

device for top guys eking out every last millisecond of performance? predecessor of or compliment to a telemetry system? an elaborate low voltage alarm? do i understand this device properly in thinking that a full telemetry system which could log data would be superior to this device as well as nonlogging telemetry in that it would record more parameters at its given intervals? I can easily see the point in the spektrum and quanum telemetries, they're like the gauges in a car giving you indication of problems live and monitoring so you can keep your eye on things... loggers you put in the car though??

again, sorry for the jack but i feel it's important for such information to be available for newbs and people like me whose last competitive RC'ing was a long time ago.. more than 10yr for me in fact forget nimh, nicads were the thing last time i raced

My Eagle Tree data recorder cost a lot more than something like this does and my recorder only does one thing, record onboard data. This is something that will record volts and amps (watts) onboard but also function as a lipo checker as well - for multiple lipos. The Powerlog version includes and optical tach for prop and blade rpm.

It perhaps has more utility on the plane/heli side ofthe hobby where you really need to know what kind of wattage you're setup is pulling.


Or do I have the nature of your question wrong, are you questioning the need for the measurement(s) to start with?

i was questioning the usefullness of having some kind of logger in the model that you can't see whilst you're driving it, as opposed to telemetry like on DX3S where you can see it while you're driving.

the only benefit i can see is that the logging versions can store the data they collect on a memory card, whereas telemetry (as far as i am aware) does not have this function (yet)

I wouldn't want the distraction of trying to look for some variable value while I was driving. I'd rather have the entire run displayed in front of me on a PC screen so I can zoom in for detail (calculate a real world C rating for example). I've even put my recorder between the rcvr and the batt to see what the servos are drawing.


The data served up by either system, logger or telemetry, is diff by nature and used for diff purposes. I can't see either system serving for the other's purpose, that would be a poor fit in either case.
