Top End Tuning by EGT

Has anyone tried top end mixture tuning based on a onboard EGT sensing microprocessor?

I'm sure it's been tried. Most of the telemetry systems I have seen have been a bit too slow on the sampling rate for accurate readings but would probably be fine for egt.
