Hey I am wondering, how do you know when the low-end needs to be tuned? Because when i finish tuning my high end it seems like my low end just flows in with the high end so i dont have to tune the low-end. I am wondering how do i know if my low-end needs to be tuned?

if your idle stays high then drops it is too rich if it has a bog when you get on the throttle too lean but never tune a cold engine

Make sure you have a steady idle, everytime that you adjust the HSN you may need to adjust the LSN. Also make sure that you tune the engine when the engine is in temp. and chassis is soak on heat.

Alright, So if my truck jumps/twitches a little when idling.. That means i am too rich? I need to lean my LSN?

My HSN seems good when i am going WOT i see a stream of smoke still.

first of all set the air gap to a @ .5mm then move to tune the LSN, make sure the idle it is smooth and steady. Once that is done then move to the HSN and tune, once the HSN is tune go back and check the idle it might be hi, again look for a steady idle with the LSN and you are done. Make sure you adjust and drive, adjust and drive, listen and look at the engine how is working, keep that stream of smoke all the time. Hope this help.

Another good tip to check if your LSN is lean or rich is while the car is idling put your temp gun on it. For example go out and run a good hard 4-5 minutes to get the car and engine up to temp then pull it in and let it idle. After about 10 seconds put your temp gun on the head and hold it. If your lsn is set correctly your should see your temps drop 1-2 degrees every 4-5 seconds. If your temps are climbing your lean, if your temps are dropping drastically fast your rich. I've been using this method ever since I started running modded engines and my modder told me to do it this way. It keeps your from having your temps climb higher and higher the longer you run. Helps quite a bit for longer mains because your on and off the gas so much for turns and such if your engine is lean on bottom when it drops to idle it will cause your temps to climb and climb. You want your engine to be cooling while it is sitting there.

I just got into nitro. There is a few tracks around me but havent been to one yet. I have not found a track that races t-maxx(monster trucks) But i am going to Sugar Bowl Tomorrow to practice well get use to the track feeling..


Thanks for all the GREAt replys I will mess with the LSN till i see a steady idle an make sure that is is smooth. Because rite now i currently dont have a temp gun so i cant do the temp method. But i will make sure it idles smoothly then adjust my HSN but a stream of smoke is always coming out my muffler Because i dont wont to seize it.

Atlanta RC Supercross has MTs sometimes up there. ive seen a few race there every once in a while.
