Default which engine to buy?

hey, was thinking to buy a new engine for 1/10 RRR. i like how the picco jl tune runs, but some one is telling me i should try the sts s12x3. any suggestions? and one knows how the sts runs? thanks. or any other engine that would be faster than the picco, for about $200.

I would avoid sts engines at all cost.

No, your best bet would probably be the RB concept J10 that helivaguy posted. I don't think you would get anything faster than the picco red dot for that price range.

as chromie said, its not as fast as the red dot, but for me i just started racing onroad and its been consistent and hasn't let me down running it in my rrr evo2.

I mean, what's wrong with the picco? It's easy to break-in and tune and with the picco pipe/header you can be the fastest at your local track.

im, in a way, in the same position, im looking for the all out best motor for around 200, ive ran the os tz and like it, but i like the specs on the jlr also, i ve heard that you have to change the connecting rod after a gallon though, is there any truth to this? does any one know hp/rpm for the rb junior? i race at a some what small track (120x80) so i dont think i need tooo much power but id rather have more than not enough. any suggestions would be great.

The JLR tuned is a really fast engine. They aren't made anymore and that engine is basically a factory modified version of the Picco Evo 3 engine.

The rod does kinda suck. You should change them every gallon. The exhaust gaskets arent too great either but the other things are pretty good. They pretty much take no break in and they are rippin fast. If you have a bit more in your budget, look at the EDO version of the Picco Evo 4 or the IDM Evo 4. The Evo 4 version made a significant improvement to the rod.

I have gotten very encouraging results around the US running the IDM engine.

+1 although never had problems with the gaskets using the mega ones. Btw, the evo4 edo (the new cooling head design) is only 230$ at rcmushroom!

I only see it at $270, but that is a good deal for that engine.
