so what was the problem?post youor fix in case others have an issue the same and can reference it glad ya got her runnin!!

I'm guessing his idle stop screw wasn't set correctly and he was getting the engine to idle by trimming his radio. Then as soon as he'd hit the breaks it would fully close the carb and kill the engine.

Are you sure that the clutch is put together correctly?
