According to A-Main hobbies these will fit the 1/8 scale truggy no problems.

Yea they don't always make it very clear that monster truck wheels are 3.4", where truggy lpr's are 3.7" and vtr's are 4.0" I think

That's it exactly. I feel a little mis-lead by the Amain support guy. Maybe I didn't ask the right questions either..

Back on subject though, I am not a fan of solid wheels or more specifically yellow YUK. I'd prefer a nice black or gun metal spoke wheel, but to keep competitive I'll compromise and go solid white I suppose.

Doesn't help that the A-Main website shows the Mugen MBX5T wheels under the monster truck category. But maybe that's because they are an older wheel with old school dimensions?
