I personally tested Traxxas, Deans, XT-60, and 4mm bullets a couple years ago. What I did was measure the voltage drop across each mated connector while passing 40A through them, just like a shunt resistor. What I concluded was at 40A continuous the difference was so little it was negligible.

Having said that, I am using Dean's connectors on everything, mostly because thats what everyone else at the tracks I race at use, as well as my friends, and we often times share batteries/ESCs. I'm also using Dean's connectors on my electric bike

The dean's will hold up until about 100A continuous, then they start to get pretty hot. However, it takes a while at that current for this to happen, and realistically, who is drawing 100A continuous? What I would like to see is a Dean's connector that is ~twice the size as the one now. Exactly the same, just twice the size.

Novak connectors seem nice I might go for them just to try them

I know I'm going to get flamed for bumping this but have there been any new options in connectors that may be better? Traxxas connectors are a pita for me at least anyways. Deans I am not real fond of there not being any sheathing over the wires and just heat shrink tubing. The heat shrink tubing always wears through. Im now looking at the ec3 and xc90 connectors so I wanted to ask the masses. Thanks.

Yeah I looked at those, look simular to the xt60/90's with nicer housings they are nice but the price is crazy. 9 cars and 20+ batteries I'll have to cash out 401k....

Kidding, not trying or wanting to be cheap but I didn't want to buy 100 plus bucks in those before seeing some reviews on them. So I thought that I'd bump this as a general question. Thanks.

I decided to try the Castles after trying the xt-60's and xt-90's. I only have 1 car and 1 battery so it was not hard to fork up the cash for 2 sets. The problem I had with the xt plugs is that after a little time, they were sticking and almost impossible to take apart. I believe it was the bullets that were sticking somehow. Now Hobby King has them with a tool to take them apart and also an add on piece to make the gripping area bigger so it is easier to get a hold of them.

That's my problem with the traxxas connectors I feel that I'm going to rip the wires out and fling one of the cars across the yard trying to get them apart. I'm kind of thinking that the connections no matter what they are keep getting arc Marcus on them from connecting the batteries and it causes them to be so difficult to pull apart. Not for sure though but every time I hook a battery up it arcs.

The xt60's now have a new version with a spark arrester built in.

Did anybody use silver connector?

For me I am now using the ec5 bullet style connectors on all my 1/8 racers ( don't have any 1/10 racers ) and they don't even get warm. I use deans on my crawlers and scalers.
