Default zippy lipo. Dead?

I bought a 4000 25c hardcase lipo from hobbycity about 3/4 year back. At the track last night it suddenly got really slow and the low voltage alarm went crazy. However, the voltage reads about 3.3 volts/cell. My balancer doesnt recognize it as a 2 cell lipo and my charger will not charge it. Has it died? or what

Check the cell voltage thru the balance connector and see what each cell has. These lipos have been known to have internal wiring probs. See if the voltage from the cells matches the voltage across the power leads.

If they are the same, then its time for a new lipo. If the voltages are diff, you may be able to repair it if teh voltage level in each cell looks ok.

well considering its such a cheap lipo, would it be worth it to just buy new ones? i need new basher packs anyways...

I have used those packs before. It might be best just to get new ones. They are so cheap anyways!

I'd try an see what was wrong personally, but I have experience fixing probs like that too.

If it doesn't matter, then harvest the connector if its worth re-using buy a new one.

Just so you know, lipo capable chargers will not charge a lipo that reads below ~3volts/cell (6v for a 2S) due to potential safety concerns. The low voltage is why the charger is doing what its is doing.

well its reading about 6.6 volts. Should i try balancing it alone, then charging with without the balancer and see if its okay then? this just seems odd because it did this suddenly

It sounds like one of the cell tabs where its soldered is less than it needs to be and is a flaky connection.

You can try balance charging and see if the connection will stay connected long enough to charge it. But then it also has to stay connected for you to run it as well. Worth a try, can't see it hurting anything. This lipo is not going to be reliable though. It may take just a little shock to lose connection with that cell again.

If that cell loses connection, charger will stop so it stays safe.

well i was racing it in my slash...lol. That sounds like thats the case because i can put my balancer into balance mode alright and then it will suddenly act as if i've unplugged it.
