NO!!! Absolutely not! The copper gasket is what seals a standard plug. Without it the plug will not seal at all.

i have a picco .26 i just rebuilt today. Got one of my old standard plugs and put it in. It would fire up and die after i took the ignitor off. Sometimes it would idle for a couple seconds and sometimes it would start screaming then die.

Then i remembered about the copper gasket. was hitting 200 at idle

got so used to putting turbo plugs in i forgot all about it

when smoke starting coming out the top i was like WTF?

thank god i figured it out after only half a tank

You won't even be able to tune it correctly.

the copper shim does 2 things.....

1) seals the combustion chamber
2) shims the plug up high enough to clear the piston and centers the heat in the middle of the chamber...

You're fine dreaux. No harm done. The reason it wouldn't run right and smoked was because of it leaking around the plug. While it is true that the copper gasket raises the plug some, it really has no chance of hitting the piston even without a gasket. The head button/combustion chamber are shaped in a way that would make that impossible.

Put the shim in and test it. You should be fine.

None actually. OS plugs are short plugs. That engine accepts a long body plug. I would look at an Odonnell or McCoy plug or something along those lines. Maybe a novarossi plug. Say a #5 ultra plug. Or you could go with a picco plug like the Ofna #6(warning, they are expensive but last a long time).

Edit: you may be able to get the OS LC3 "long" plug to work. It's their only long plug and is a bit hot for that engine IMO.
