Default Question about Lipo Balancing...

I know that you don't have to balance your Lipos EVERY charge, but that it is important to do every once in a while. I have an Onyx 230, but I don't have a balancer for it. I've been looking for a cheap balancer and I keep coming across these "balancing chargers" ex

Apparently I can't post links, but it's ebay item # 110506051608

Could I buy one of those and just charge my pack with it once in a while? I have a 2S 5000mah Turnigy.. The Balancing charger comes to $10 shipped and all the in line balancers I've seen are at least 30+ shipping..

That looks just like the balancing charger I got from Hobbycity. It works very well at balancing your packs. I have one pack that always comes way out of balance and this charger pulls it right back every time. Remember this is a DC only charger, so you will need to hook it to your car battery or a power supply.

It takes 10 posts to be able to post links......

You're making an assumption when you say you don't have to balance lipo everytime that the cells are not getting too much out of balance. Apparently if yours are OK, that assumption is ok in your case. Just be aware that it will not always work that way.

And without a balancer or balancing charger, you're just as likely to overcharge a cell as to overdischarge a cell.

Get an Astroflight Blinky balancer for $30 and balance every charge. Cake.
