My bad I did nt pst the pics of the brace I made...LOL. That would def. makes it weak. It will have a brace similar to th CRC genx. Also on the left side there are two mounting holes( really one of the only reasons I think this will work)

I have a Speedmerchant 1/12th car from 1999 that's been sitting on a shelf in my garage for 10 years, since I got out of the hobby. I'm getting back into it now, so I wanted to find out how different are the 1/12th cars now? Will racing this car in local club racing be an excercize in futility, or can I have a little fun with it while I gear back up?

I don't expect to be driving well enough to win anyway...just wanted to know if even attempting to drive this car would be a cruel joke, or is there still fun to be had?

Thanks!

Run it. Just get modern electrics for it.

Does it still use 2 bolt rear wheels? If so, you will want to get new 3 hole hubs for it.

All I need now is the 1s saddle and I should be god to go. There are pics of before and after in my flickr thread. I do still have some finishing touches to make though.

Does anyone have pics of the CRC Gen x bottom of the chassis?

Thanks for the response!

...I'll go start the "ban the chassis thread"....

Do anybody know if somebody makes a bigger rear pod for the 12L4 so i can fit a brushless motor. I wanted to try the 12r5/5.1 pod to see if it work.

Interesting design.
Can anyone confirm if it is a layered composite or thermoformed plastic. From the cut edges there is no layer grain so it could be plastic. Also looks as if it was formed over a mould from the inside from the higher internal definition.

Its a composit material and has near zero flex front to rear. It does have some twist but not a lot. Its still in development stages but frank says it looks promising. So we shall see.

Didn't someone else used to make a composite tub type or pieced together a graphite chassis?

I've been wondering the same thing. A brushless will fit in there the thing is it will be tight.

Is this a new version of the Slapmaster chassis or is CRC working with Brian on a new chassis?
