If on a budget, a 4x4 Slash w/ upgraded shocks & center diff or PE.
If you're thinking you REALLY want a 1/8 buggy for the long term, just pay it and commit to what you really want.
If you're new to RC or relatively new, Slash2, Slash4, Slash4PE.
If you're not, then consider the 1/8. More complex and (for me at least) more maintenance/wrench time.

I can't imagine they have ever sold one but who knows.
As for your earlier post about my comment. If you had read what I said, I mentioned used stuff can be had much cheaper but all new and all name brand $800 is not enough. I also said that I run Zippy lipos. Those are "cheap"
Out of the 100+ vehicles I have owned 3 have been bought brand new. Summit, Slash, and Slayer. That's it. I always buy used because I let someone else take the hit on depreciation and I don't mind putting in the wrench time to get the vehicle where it should be.
As for Caster. I don't doubt they are great cars since so many people like them. However, not a person in this state (may be exaggerating) runs one and there isn't a shop along the I-5 corridor anywhere that carries parts for them that I am aware of.
