Hi All,
I'm new to the forum, I have a LRP shark 18 Team Factory, my motor and speed controller died a few days ago. Also I thought it's a good idea for me to now go brushless.
I have around £70 ($115) to spend so I might go for Castle Creations 1/18 Sidewinder Micro + 8000kV Combo is this a good motor and speed controller? You can also program it through your PC
Many Thanks
Harry

Thats a solid esc and is fully programmable with thru the Castlelink using a PC. IIRC, the stock motor in the Vendetta (our version of the Shark) uses a 2.3mm shaft an these Castle motors are 2mm, so you're going to have to remedy that.
Once you get a pinion for that shaft, think you'll find the 8000 is too high of a kv and that it runs hot. The Shark is a too heavy for this size motor. These are more suited to a Xray M18Mt or something like that. Check the Micro and Mini Scales forums for some better advise.
My Detta ST runs a Permax 480 which has a 2.3mm and is 4800kv iirc. Its plenty fast!
