I was wanting to show a client a Nova FMS internals, had removed the 4 backplate screws, the phone rang, when I got off he had removed the backplate, and there was a nice sized chunk gone out of teh piston.
However whem the nice guys at Novarossi USA heard what happened, they said send it in, and they replaced it no charge, good people there

It got caught on the rim of the toilet when he was using it as a plunger!!SEE PICTURE!!! Or MAAAAAAYBE he did not have the piston TDC when he took the backplate off...hmmm gotta be the toilet.1900 plus posts??? I'm all for sharing info and learning from this website but god man try and follow along!!

I was fortunate enough to watch another noob do that when I first started. Made an impression I did not forget.
He meant his motor was at BDC in the original post not TDC. Just wanted to clear that up for the other noobs out there reading this.

BDC = bottom dead center
The flywheel has nothing to do with this so leave that alone. Just make sure the piston is at TDC before you go and pull the back plate off your engine and you'll be fine. If I was you I think I would get someone who knows what the internals of the engine are help you out before there is more problems then just a broken piston skirt.
Also don't all engines have a o ring to seal the back plate anyway? I know the ones I've had do. So why mess with it.

TDC = top dead center
BDC = bottom dead center
The flywheel has nothing to do with this so leave that alone. Just make sure the piston is at TDC before you go and pull the back plate off your engine and you'll be fine. You shouldn't have to seal anything on a nitro engine if its a quality engine !!!
