Ofna Force .21 JL

No Problem.... if you can tune and use the right fuel, plugs and pipe.
I don't have it yet, but i have owned 3 different Picco .21's. I ran all of them in my Jammin X1 Pro, all the power you need.
I just bought one myself, waiting on it to arrive. I just read this entire thread, kinda surpised that it is a Force engine....disappointed is the word. It was listed as a Picco.
I have two Adam Drake Platinum .21's, one the standard version, one is the fully draked edition. I have 7 gallons on it and still runs like a champ. 3 sets of bearings have been put in it and one rod just recently. Anyways the reason I mention the A.D. 21 is that the pics of the JL sleeve port configuration, is very similar to my A.D. 21 full mod. We'll see when i tear it down and inspect, clean and seal it.
Hell the little 3 port .21 BAS Picco will kill most RTR .28 no problem, it's only 99 bucks. With a set of good ceramics in it and pullstart eliminator backplate, that engine would surprise a lot of pro's. I ran that engine with a long Ofna header and a Dynamite Platinum 086 with Byron's Pro Driver 30%. I had tons of people at races wanting to know what I had, then when i told them the price they were disgusted. It would stay right with the Tuned GRP .21 combo in similar cars, until of course the GRP started to rev higher. At that point you are off the throttle and on the brakes anyways for the next turn on most tracks. 4 gallons on it with no maintenance, then it died naturally. Bearings at 2 gallons would have gave it another 3-5 gallons. At 99 dollars, i did not carethough.
Back to the JL, I'll report back later. I plan to use O.D.97T plugs and my 086 setup with 1.0 springs. If that does not work, I'll try some different stuff. I'm running a Kyosho ST-RR now, 9 lbs in race trim with body and fuel.
I've lost count of the engines I have owned. I know what i'm doing. I hardly ever DNF for engine issues. poor eye sight and throttle happy are my downfalls.
I agree with Aaron and easy rider. on good engines you need to tune the LSN first. HSN has no bearings on idle and LSN settting unless you lean the HSN way to damn far. Always tune the HSN to the driving conditions.
The Traxxas 3.3 is the ONLY engine I have ever seen that the idle would change if i touched the HSN. Finicky little bastards, but they scream on 30%, I ran that one into the ground on purpose as well. 4 gallons and the bearings slopped out. Compression was still perfect but I wanted the OS 21 TM....
Needless to say, all my good mills get bearings @2-3 gallons. Usually ceramics, that will be done to the JL after breakin.

Nice to meet you as well! Guess i should have introduced myself....here I am!
Trey7 referred me here for the JL thread, so I had to come check it out. I know a lot of these guys from different forums, don't recogonize the usernames but I figured out who a few of them are. Me, same username any forum...keeping it simple. I have no one or any reason to hide anyways.
I'd like to hear some more about what pipes/plugs people are running please.
anyone have any new info? The 2035 is the only pipe mentioned here, I've heard nothing but good news about the pipe. Something tells me this ones going to like the 086 though....especially after Exetreme RC gets done with it.
It's going to have to do for the moment, it's all I have! Sold and lent out all my others to friends. As far as plugs, I have 6 O.D 97T's coming.....hope they work.
Any new info would be great and much appreciated.

The JL .21 is absolutely nothing at all like the Picco .21's....completely different in all aspects...port design, timing, case volume, head volume etc.......

So Maximo, have you got a chance to run one? I'm curious how they compare performance wise to the Picco. I've loved every Picco I've had, nothing else seems to have the bottom end of a Picco
I'm in the market for a budget oval engine for my late model and it looks like the JL might fit the bill. I love how cheap the rods are for it (I like to stretch rods on the oval
).

).Unfortunately i have personally not run one.... my winter season is here and these engines weren't out early enough for me to test them before winter hit me.... I do have a couple modified that will be tested very soon, so I will have feedback then......Judging from the JL's design I am going to say it wont have the bottom end of the Picco, the JL is timed and ported more for midrange and top end...tho i doupt it will lack bottom end, it just wont be as strong as the Picco... But truth be told I have never seen another .21 with bottom end like the Picco anyways...Talking with guys who have run this engine and its RB cousin are saying it has a smooth strong bottom with killer midrange and top end...guys are saying this engine is really really fast....

Tried it with JP-3 last night and it really gets along well with it, most engines seem too I Know, but had crazy power every and good run times, which the jp-3 is not known for, I was doing 8 mins no problem, didnt run it into 10, but i think it could make that mark, 9 mins no problem

Yes, He is Scrogg from Savage Central, That is where I started out, and since then have been reading a lot here since I got into racing. I was wondering if this was the Maximo from SC as well. I don't think I had the pleasure to talk to you before.
#165
Oh boy...the good ol days of SC.

glad those are Long gone.

Since the interals are pretty identical to the RB Killer9!!
