No your not. lol You will never get past 90% done. As soon as you think it's done, you'll want to change something. I've had mine for a year and work on it at least once a week, but I think I've only driven it a few hundred feet.

The best upgrades in my opinion are in this order.

1. bearings, duratrax ones are fine or the ones on ebay.
2. traxxas evx2 esc, it's waterproof and handles a lot of power.
3. hi torque servo, crawfordperformanceengineering.com has some you can get for $20 and they have 200 ozin of torque. They work really well.
4. Shocks, tmaxx pro shocks or team associated "tmaxx shocks)
5. 4-link kit. So many options on this one
6. Adjustable motor mounts, this way you can change the gearing to tailor the power to your driving style/conditions.
7. Motors- duh.

I am looking at getting a stock clodbuster and the Clodzilla IV kit. This is gonna be a long-term project that I plan on working on.

Anyone run brushless motors or are they just way to powerful for the truck? I will need an ESC that supports forward and reverse.

Also how are people coloring their aluminum? Are they going to an anodizing shop and they are doing it for them?

I run twin Castle Creation 5700's in my Clod, and use 9 tooth pinion. I find it's a bit on the slow side, but tons of torque. Fun none the less.

I've tried ESP's clodvilla 2 chassis, and its great for playiing in the neighborhood, but not much else. Center of gravity is too high. Very tippy. I don't how much better the others are.

I'm in the process of revamping mine so has more performance, higher top speed, and a little more agile. I want to go with xtreme racings XC2. It's all carbon fiber so it's lighter, better CG, I think I'll be able get more performance out of my Clod.

If your into RTR's that you just have to take out of the box, Clodbusters probably aren't going to maintain your interest.

For the most part they're project trucks. You never quite finish them, or when you get that last piece to finish your masterpeice, you come to the conclusion that you need to start all over.

If your interested in a mild bit of machining, sourceing parts from multiple vendor, and aftermaket companies, and really like modding, and putting your personal stamp on a RC, they are for you.

I personally like taking a collection of parts, and turning them into a beast of a Monster truck. Nothing jumps, hits, turns, or excellerates like a Monster, and depending what you do they can be almost unstoppable. The big negative is that for every hour of run time, you got 2 hour of maintenance.

I'm wanting to buy a Clod buster soon. My question is would it be better to get
a stock one and build it up or buy one thats already been modded. I'm not new to RC but I am new to Clods.

Also does anyone have an opinion on the Clod vs Juggernaut.

My Super Clodbuster has been sitting pretty for a long time and I think I wanna change it now. I kinda like the idea of a true Monster Jam Monster Truck but after taking a look at Youtube...I think performance is what I may be going after. I do have my Juggernaut II to look at...and my TXT-1 but I think it's time the Clod gets a makeover so I'm planning to update and upgrade.

Figure out what you like for chassis, and try to buy that, then go from there. Bigger the truck , the bigger the price tag !! Parts and modifications can get pricey, so best to keep in mind your budget.

Clod's had independent suspension (sorta), while the Jugg's had a leaf spring design. At one point the Jugg's were quite innovative. The problem lays in the fact that real world vehicle technology doesn't translate to Rc cars that well. Poor handling.

i have owned a clod for like 15 years. have had multiple ones at one time. i was stupid for getting rid of them. but like said i still have my very first one. i havnt touched it years. my son is getting to the age that he likes RC's and i am getting him a clod for his birthday. so i pulled off the shelf and the electronics are acient in it and dont work. brushed stuff is almost extinct and very hard to find what i am looking for. any suggestions? what about brushless? do they make a system you can runn 2 motors off the same speed control? or do you have to have 1 speed control for each motor?

i have been looking and looking the past couple weeks and it blos my mind what is out there compared to 10 years ago. you dont even have to buy a clod kit. you can buy aluminum axles and stuff cheaper than plastic ones. its like been a kid again LOL

I got bearings for my new clod.... and a evx coming.... my gravedigger is on its way.. casting frame ...alum. shocks.....m8 radio...extra.

you need 2 esc's to run 2 bl motors, no other way to do it.
you also need good lipos to run 2 bl motors at the same time.

i'm running 2 60amp ezrun esc's with 2 8.5t 4000kv motors and run it off one 2 cell 50c 5000mah lipo.

How fast is it with to bl?
