Savage transmissions
#1
I just got a Savage X 4.6 last week and I am thinking that the 2 speed tranny isn't shifting into second. I have an MGT 8.0 and I can definately tell when it hits second gear but so far I haven't noticed the Savage shifting unless it is doing it right off the line. Is there an obvious shift in the Savage 2 speed? I am also wondering if the 3 speed out of the XL will fit and bolt right in on the X?
Thanks, Uhgg

You can either accelerate very slowly and listen for it to shift or hold it in the air and try teh same thing, accelerate very slowly and listen for it to shift. Unless it seems noticeably slow, you're in second. You can adj the trans where it shifts almost immediately to 2nd.

If you go with the 3 speed get one out of an xl as it comes stock with the high speed 3rd already installed. Like said above slowly acclerate and listen for the shift. You want it to shift at the top of your motors power band (Not max rpm) to get the best proformance out of your truck.
If you get your shift points right it is not very noticable as it will stay in the motor's power band when shifting. You will hear the shift but it rev right back up almost instantly and even cause your truck to wheely when it shifts.
