Hey guys, new to RB, not to engines. I have a new WS7 L2G on its way to me and I was wondering if it comes with an aditional shim to run 30%? If not, I have a few from my V-specs and was wondering if they are the same size?
thanks

ps, i did a search...

Hello Jrwoodchuck,
Your engine will be shimmed for safely running up to 25% nitro and to run 30% nitro it is recommended you add a 0.1mm to help prevent detonation. Unfortunately NO extra shims are included.

Hey guys, can you use the RB Concept WS7 TURBO L2G Connecting Rod for a older style WS7II, I think you can but want to be sure before I spend $70 on a rod!
Thanks

All the .21 RB's use the same rod, that's a good thing about them.

Yup, check the manuals that are available at rbproducts.com. All RB engines use the same con-rod.

Its easy to break a case. Cheap cast aluminum pot metal. If the engine mounts are off kilter, or excessive chassis flex. Or if you bolt the case down and use the bolts to "bring it in". Engine has to sit perfectly flat and easy, before you can bolt it down.

Maybe one day, we'll have billet blocks...........

RB cases (and several other brands) are sensitive to bearing removal when using the OFNA style slide hammer type bearing extractors. There "Press" type or atleast heating the case is the best way to do the bearings.

As said before, the cases are castings and they are not forged blocks, so they are more brittle than billet or forgings. The slide hammers send harmonics thru the casting and will crack the block.

I am not saying this is the reason for your cases being cracked, but if this is how you did the bearings, it is a possibilty. I have never seen two cases in a row that have cracked so, this is just a heads up for you.

Yeah two cases in a row most likely = mounting issues. Or maybe jumping the thing over houses.

As for rods, not only will any of the RB Nova rods work but any Nova R rod will work like R5 or R7. also a JP R6 but you will need the coated JP wrist pin as well. Also MaxPower rods or if you want to go really cheap, Go Tech rods.
