It looks like the majority agree:

If it's at idle, the best way to stop it is at the flywheel. Use a shoe, a finger, or something plastic/rubber.

If it's a run-away, plug the exhaust.

No Ive understood every word written.

You posted about gloves. I posted I had just gotten some too but added I was not going to stick my fingers in flywheels gloves or no gloves. It wasnt a personal attack it was a personal choice of mine not to do things that could cause me harm.

You got defensive for some reason and quoted me. Then you admit to having done exactly what I said I wouldnt do and got hurt. Then call me a pussy for not wanting to get hurt too. This is quite possibly the dumbest argument anyone has ever made.

I replied saying I had not said what you suggested and that I needed my fingers to make a living (as an auto mechanic) and laughed off being called a pussy because I dont take everything I read on the internet personally. I'm not the one calling people names. Get over yourself.

So what are you saying Losi_racer? The flywheel or the exhaust?

So from what it sounds like bumping the flywheel with something is better than plugging the tuned pipe or pinching the fuel line?

Finger over a hot pipe??? not good
Cutting the fuel to the motor, is cutting the lubrication off & kills plugs.... not good
Finger over the carb, kills the plug & dirt can get in easier.... not good

Dare I mention not to stop a runaway motor with your thumb?

Ive seen a runaway motors flywheel melt right through a shoe. Plugging the exhaust only works if the person has a good tight exhaust, Ive also seen someone try and plug the exhaust and it just keeps running, only not as loud Really the best way to kill a runaway motor is pull its fuel line but that can be kind of scary to do when the thing is screaming in your face.

As for my own motor when Im done a race? flywheel all the way, most times I dont even have gloves on, if your idle is set right it doenst take much to stop it.
