TPhalen- I think peope are using a clear spray on top of the ink to stop it from washing off.

drummer5--- the closest thing I've been able to find through regular stores is Avery 8665 celar full sheet labels, those were at the local Staples. They're not quite as flexible as I'd like, but they do work well with inkjet printers and they come in 81/2*11 sheets. I've also tried using some Grafix frisket film that I got at a local art supply store, but I didn't think its adhesive was strong enough.
Speedo--- those were all printed on my ALPS, the Avery 8003 vinyl doesn't work well at all in my Lexmark inkjet, lots of smearing and dirty hands when I tried it. I picked up the Avery 8003 at a local sign making supply shop. Click on this big-ass URL to find the dealer near you:

mike_Webb--- BAD idea to run vinyl through a laser printer. I tried it a year or so ago and I had to throw the printer away. The vinyl melted in the printer and spread around inside the works as it colled and hardened. I cleaned the thing for three days and it still wouldn't work again.
TPhalen--- if you're using an inkjet, you can shoot some clear fixative over the decals to protect from smearing. I'm using Krylon Workable Fixative that I picked up at the local art supply house. The colors from the ALPS printer that I'm using are supposed to be waterproof and smearproof, but they're not as glossy as the surrounding body, but the clear fixative gives them the right amount of shine.

I have used the stuff from Bruckners. I can't remember what it is called, but it cost about $20 for the kit. I was fairly pleased with the results. You simply print off the desired graphic on the decal paper and then spray with the clear sealant and allow to dry. It is in fact a waterslide decal and that is where it gets a bit tricky to apply. You will waste a few here and there. But overall it is a great effect. I love being able to economicaly make my own decals. They stand up to scuffs about as well as any other decal I have used. Here is a pic of the hood of my oval car. It has a sticker I made with this system.

Thans trips. I might get some today, if my staples has them, but I don't think they do. I got some lacquer "high lustre coating" will that work to cover the ink?

k, that lacquer stuff works really well. I just went to staples though, and they don't have the avery stuff, anywhere else you can get it?

I didn't realize that the 8665 was paper with sticky back, I thought it was plastic 
I have some of the window decals that use static, and they have two problems. 1st is that the ink becomes transparent, and the second, they use static, so don't sticl very well. If the 8665 is the only alternaticve, I don't think it's worth it

I just looked at that link, and the picture does make it appear that they're paper, but reading the description says:

Yup, I have a package of the Avery stuff also. It's not the best for R/C bodies as it's not totally transparent, but it gets the job done and still looks reasonably cool. The stickers look great on toolboxes and whatnot, though...
If I had a decent digital camera I'd take some pics. I was tempted to buy one the other day, but it's a lotta money to spend...! heh
