hi, i am confused with the steering geometry, put my m03 on the setup board to set up toe and checked steering throw while i was at it. Adjusted endpoints so they matched, about 14 deg both ways, but i noticed the gauges measured the inside angle not the outside, so i measured the outside and while the inside are both 14 the outside is 10 and 14. how can this be and how do i fix it.

Far too complicated

Just put in on the track and race it

well... i am a very curious person, and my car handled like a dog, destroyed a beautiful shell

I figured out the problem of the car wandering down the straight. I had too much toe in, a fellow racer told me to try toe out, went ridicules and had a lot of toe out.. and it flew down the straight like it was on rails.

Anyhow, i would like to get the steering sorted. Should i get the servo horn pointed straight down and then adjust turnbuckles to get the wheels straight. At the moment with horn down and turnbuckes of equal length it is several degrees off centre.

chris

these mini's are addictive

Adjust each side till it looks straight and go racing....much easier...most of mini setup is in tires man...been taught to adjust steer rate on rx to fine tune the car. A bad choice in tires can turn the car to junk...re 360s in the middle of the front straight at whalan lol...

Wandering on the straight can be adjusted by reducing the steering exponential (curve) by about 20-30%. Will make it easy to drive. Massive toe out will make the car slow and will turn in VERY hard. I would suggest no toe.

And .. you are thinking about the Mini far too much . Just build and race

On carpet I use the Tamiya radial S-Grip (front #50684) & M-Grip (rear #53254) with success.
I'm curious to know how the Tamiya slicks perform on carpet because I happen to have a set of Tamiya Super Slicks (#53222), 60D slicks Type-A (#53340) & a set of slicks which look smaller in diameter #53215.

Can someone tell me please if they have had any luck on carpet with these slicks and maybe if they are perhaps similar to the above mentioned radials I use?

Well after todays racing at Whalan, I have alot more refining of the MO5 to get it to work properly. My car and Dan's both looked fast, however the rolling over certainly doesn't help in qualifying.

Hopefully we will see some more cars being run and some set up advice being passed on. I did try the MO3 front swaybar. I will be taking it off and waiting for Tamiya to release a full set, so that you can mix and match for front and rear.

My mini shell sure took a beating today. I was almost ready to start running my MO3, however I had resist the defeatist urge and perserve with the other car. Hopefully I will head in the right direction in the next few weeks and things will be better.

Perhaps someone else has some hints.

Later,

Calvin.

Hey Calvin, nice to meet you in person at the Mini50 by the way. I just built my MO5 pro and looking forward to racing it but admittedly will be on carpet only.
Keep persevering mate, I believe the MO5 will be a better car and the key will be the balance with oil weight and spring set up.

My car has lead weight in behind the front bumper and depending on the lipo's I put in, the AUW is 1350-1385, she needs weight up front to get the traction happening.
The oil weight is 50 with blue springs front & 40 oil weight rear with yellow springs. Set the shockies up same as Jilles Groskamp. All the MO5 hop up knuckes up front as well, got to have a little bit of bling

I'll let you know how my progress goes, but it does already feel more crisp in its steering direction and general feel of balance.

What was your set up again please?

Cheers

John
