Default traxxas or deans

i went to mmr tonight with my rustler hoping to race well long story short i got in mabye 4 laps because my connection (esc=power poles batterys=tamiya) so i run an adaptor but the powerpoles on the adaptor keeps coming loose so i cant run with out having the tire nic a corner...so which would u guys prefer (i am running a lrp 17t and 6 and 7c batterys)...andrew suggested deans but i was thinking traxxas because if i get a new batt i can get a lot with traxxas already on there..so which connector would u suggest

I use both, their both basically the same thing. Their both classified as high current quick release connectors. I personally like the traxxas better because thier easier to assemble and they have grip on them so its easier to pull them apart.

hmmm....i was leaning tword the deans 1.there cheaper 2.come with male and female so i would have some extra if they broke 3.traxxas connectors are to tight and i like to be able to pull apart my connectors without useing to much force

I have switched almost 100% to Deans. That seems to be the norm now and the only thing I have Traxxas plugs on is my Emaxx and that will be switched soon. Nothing wrong with the Traxxas plugs I just like Deans.

Even that cheapo crawler I just bought came with Deans.

The dean heads are much smaller than the Traxxas connecters. And I'm sure they weigh less too. One of the guys at my lhs said traxxas connecters had a lower IR than deans, but I'm not sure how much truth is in that.

Ah the old debate sparks back up again!
I prefer the Deans as well because they are not so big and bulky. Some like the Traxxas for that same reason. I have used Deans for years and just as they were about to become standard along comes Traxxas to screw it all up. I saw a test several years ago showing how a properly soldered Deans had less resistance than an equal length of 12 guage wire. I would say thats just fine for me. If you are not very good at soldering and you need to have something to grab when you connect/disconnect, then Traxxas may be for you. I never have a problem with the Deans though, and Ill never switch as long as I have a choice.

well im ok at soldering but i rather have somebody help me at mmr just because i really dont want to screw it up and want to be able to race next week...i think i will go with the deans...thanks for all of the oponions

My 1st experience with trx conns were on my Slash. I found them too large and bulky. I converted to brushless out of the box using all Deans. I've been using them for years and have gotten used to building, connecting and disconnecting them. I have used 6 and 6.5mm bullets on a few high amp projects, but they prob would have been just as good with Deans.

Untill Traxxas came out with thier plug 99% of the people that raced by me used deans. I like to help the new guy out and borrow them stuff (motors, batts.) when I can but now they all show up with Traxxas connectors and they're SOL.

I was using 4mm bullet connectors in my two race vehicles and Traxxas in the rest of the collection. After adding TRX connectors to vehicles that would come and go I just switched to Deans as I had some differences in how some of the TRX connectors would go together. Some would be super tight and some fairly easy to slide the soldered tab into the housing.

trx for me. If you solder them right they fit like a glove. If not than you have problems, same with deans. Deans can be tricky if not solder right as well. In any case both are good it is a prefernce thing and for me I go with trx.

Deans are just so simple no A and B marked tabs to fuss with. No screwing up because a tiny bit of solder got past the line. No pounding the tabs to get them to lock in. I solder both of these plugs all the time and cannot stress enough how much more I like the Deans.

Deans for me too. It's what ALMOST everyone has, this way I can use their stuff, and vise versa. I don't know how many times I've let someone use one of my spair LiPo's for the 10min Mains, because all they have are old NiMhs

I use Traxxas because it's the best for me. I like the textured feel, larger grip, and consistency of the feel. The Deans I have used have either been too loose or too tight and just didn't fit together right. What I did make was a very small Traxxas to Deans connector that allows me to use Deans plugs on batteries as well. This came in handy when one nice racer lent me a Lipo with a Deans plug for a race and I was able to use it with the adapter. This thread will basically go no where as anyone considering both plugs should try both to see what works best for them and go with that.
