Default nimh battery runtime..

currently at my local track ive noticed that mainly all the electric classes are only 5 min per heat. My question is that will a nimh battery dump fast during a heat? or will i have sufficent runtime to get me through? 15 years ago we ran 4 min heats and had plenty of life left. or shoud i just go lipo and call it a day?

thanks for any info

I'd get a lipo, just remember you need a lipo capable charger and preferably one that balances as well. You can get by with fewer lipos than you would need NiMhs though and they perform better than NiMh.

It would depend on how old and what kind of Nimh battery you are running, and how much power you are pulling. A well maintained newer Nimh pack will get you 5 minutes with PLENTY to spare for just about any kind of racing.

But even having said that... start looking into the move to lipo! SOOO much easier.
