Wingman, what car is that you posted a picture off, looks like it has a single tube rear damper?
I remember seeing a pic years ago of a 1/12th with microshocks instead of tube dampers, why dont more people run that setup? The microshock should be less maintenance than the tube and if you used it with springs you should be able to adjust the tweak on the car as well, no?

Ok-- So I have the car running. How do you know the car is over geared? (1s 13.5) Lets just say I am way above 95mm rollout and motor is hardly warm (125ish). I would say I could use a little more on the infield but the car tops out on the straight pretty quick. I am trying to find steering after about 2-3 min as the car goes into super push mode. It has good speed throughout the run though. I have not gone for a full 8 min yet (as far as I know, just practice right now.)
In offroad we gear up until the motor gets hot and this is about the most you can go. Not sure this is the right thing for these little guys.
steering help woud be appreciated as well. Gen X car with magenta fronts and grey rears. JTG sauce.

Instead, gear your 1/12 1s LiPo car based on laptimes and feel, but while also checking the motor temps to make sure they are not out of line.

Basically kit setup with 10 deg caster, 3 shims back and .045 front springs, are the only things I have changed so far.
I need to check my center droop as I think that is off (too much). I am still kind of working the kinks.
ride hieght is 4.5 everywhere.
Things I want to change. Stiffer center shock (spring and damping) stiffer side springs, and lowering the front end .5mm.
Any other suggestions would be welcomed!

Just trying to be helpful and keep others from being misinformed. The springs you refer to as .045 are actually .45mm, which is equal to an Associated type .018". spring.

Your Setup seems a little off for the Gen-X with a 13.5 and 1s LiPo.
Ride Height All = 3.5mm
Race Ready Droop = 3.5mm
Front Springs = .45mm (.018")
Damper Tubes = CRC White Cap Lube, Red if track is bumpy or loose
Caster = 10-deg
Shock Spring = Blue (10lb) or Gold (12lb)
Shock Oil = 35w
Side Spring = White or Blue
Front Tire = Double Pink (Jaco or Parma)
Rear Tire = Yellow
Tire Stagger = Rear +2mm more than Front
Rear Width = 172mm
Ride Height All = 3.5mm
Race Ready Droop = 3.5mm
Front Springs = .45mm (.018")
Damper Tubes = CRC White Cap Lube, Red if track is bumpy or loose
Caster = 10-deg
Shock Spring = Blue (10lb) or Gold (12lb)
Shock Oil = 35w
Side Spring = White or Blue
Front Tire = Double Pink (Jaco or Parma)
Rear Tire = Yellow
Tire Stagger = Rear +2mm more than Front
Rear Width = 172mm
What is tire stagger?
I really want to go to a stiff center spring and they are on the way. My buddy has some spares so I might bum one off him for now.
thanks for the tips. I will give it a try.
I need to lower my ride hieght as well! LOL
(track minimum is 4)

With the 1s LiPo, you won't need a stiffer center spring than Gold (12lb). We ran Red (14lb) with NiMH 4-cells, and with the reduced weight, a lighter spring is needed to get the chassis to work.
If the track minimum is 4mm, then set it to the minimum. Most carpet tracks are fairly smooth, which allows the lower ride height to work better, but if its bumpy, a little higher will help traction.
Hi Conrad, that's a car that I made up myself and I made two versions of the crossbrace and upper pod plate, one uses twin damper tubes whilst the other setup uses one damper tube.

I have seen twin shocks on 12th cars before but I think due to the weight of them, they are not that popular to use. I have also seen small springs on the end of damper tubes and you are quite correct, turn the ball cups one way or the other and it adds or removes preload from them, so you can indeed set the tweak using this method.
Cheers, Chris.
