just wondering what 2.4ghz receivers can handle a lipo with out the use of a reg.

i have been wanting to get the new hitec 7950 and 7940 servos and use them on a 2cell lipo but my current receiver can not handle a full 7.4volts.

All the spektrum receivers will handle at least 9 volts.

yah i just read about the spektrums handling lipos and i know the ko 2.4ghz do. but are they any other ones.

i dont really like the spektrum system and i would go ko but i dont like the price for one receiver . 130$

Really? wow. I have a DSM telemetry receiver for my DX3S with a 7.4 2000mah losi lipo and I was sweating over getting a regulator in time, are there any benefits to not using a regulator? What about output volts to the servo's, still 9v? ...

The output to the servos will be high. Some of the manufacturers including JR and I believe Hitec and now making servos that are rated to handle the extra voltage so a regulator is not necessary. I would check with the manufacturer of your servos to see about using them without a regulator.

Well listen, that is up to the user, but I have heard many guys say that a premium quality metal geared servo should be able to run the high volts despite not being a 7.4v servo.

I have never tried it but i probably would. How would i unregulate my voltage with my setup? DX3R 7.4v, lipo mamba max esc?

you can't, we're talking about nitro vehicle receiver packs.

How about Sanwa/Airtronics DSSS Receivers?

I have an airtronics MX-3 FHSS that will not handle that much it wont handle past 6.0v.

But as I understand it quite a few of the newer ESC's reduce the voltage so you should check your esc specs.

Nope.. just looked this up.. what I found said that it only handles up to 6v, any more would fry it.

They are talking about plugging cells directly into the reciever, not an ESC. ESCs automatically limit the voltage going to the receiver.
