Big bore shocks work better. They also work better outside most of all. Something you should do, but don't have to do.
For diffs I put 5 5 5, which is the same as the RC8 worlds setup and it works well. I like how it drives overall with this setup and would suggest anyone try it.
I am going to work on shocks next, but I am going to try 50wt front, 45wt rear, and maybe some slightly stiffer springs in the front to keep some of the weight transferring forward, and hopefully make it jump a little better...with the stock shocks that have had the shock mod done to them.

The front bearing on my modded, stock motor went out today after 2 gallons. Any one else have this problem yet? iIt was running fine till it wormed up and then would hesitate to full throttle. At idle it would die from lack of pressure to the fuel tank. Pulled it, coverd the carb and exhaust openings, put it in a small bowl of water and blew on the carb fuel fitting. Got bubbles front the front bearing with out too much resistance.
I replaced it but have yet to start it up again.
Everytime I run it I allways want to sell all my other cars. The truck is just awsome!! I need a new body but keep putting it back together with zip ties
.
Here is a few pictures I just tokk because its been a few pages on here that I havent posted pictures of my truck.....yeah, I'ma picture whore.

I htink I have every FT option for the B/T. Got all teh stuff off the bay.

Notice all the zip ties holding the body together

Aww, I dont feel bad about my motor. Yeah it rips super hard but I have a teal head Mach 427 and a JPX .28 sitting on my work bench that I can throw in there. I just really like the stock motor because its been so easy to tune, for me.

Me and a buddy got ours in mid Feb. he had some trouble with his motor and i started after about 1/2 gallon of fuel so i put an LRP .28 spec motor and it is a blast. The only thing i did was change tires to the Buggy style and made a big change in it....i was running 2nd in a local race until i ran out of gas....
still finshed 5th in a TRUGGY clash.

I ran again today, pretty happy with 5 5 5 .... might be my driving style, but the truck gets around the track pretty good now.
I am going to try the electric conversion one more time and see if I can get a setup with that...if I can, I have an excuse to buy a SC8e too...

It looks like this thread is finally starting to wake up. Great pics GNS. You certainly can't say that these trucks don't fly with the best of them.
I picked mine up in February lightly used off of ebay. Unfortunately, I've only been able to run it a couple of times. It has stormed every weekend here for the last 2 months. It has been a few years since I have run nitro and I have never run 1/8 scale successfully. I have a storm buggy that I was never able to get running consistently. I was afraid that the same was gonna happen with the SC8, but as soon as I ran it in temps above 65f it ran like a top. What temps should these motors be running at? The 1 day that I've had it running well, the motor was around 250f after 2 tanks. Is that about right? Thanks for any help and I'll try to get some pics up the next time I run.

Wes...so fill it up to the top cross pin? I filled it up to just about the top on the gears like the manual stated, I already slapped it back in my ride. Should I pull it apart and re do it? And those who are talking about having motor issues at 6al, Im already close to 6 gals and Im getting worried just hearing about your guys luck...

I replaced the front bearing on the stock motor and it seems that the shaft is the one that is worn as it wont seal any more. Cheap bearings I guess.
Installed a teal head 427 in it and I think I like the power delivery better. Its ready to rip it up again!!
I'm sure fuel consumption will be slightly less as well. I have a Hyper .21 as well that needs a new piston ans sleve. might get those parts and put that motor in there to make it even better on fuel consumption.
