their is no need to break this type of battery in. Just charge it at 5 amps because it is a 5000mah battery. This is charging at 1c which is normal. A tip is to balance the lipo if you can but it is not that big of a deal. Also, if you warm the battery up to like 85* to 90*F, then your golden. Only do this if you are running in colder whether like below 60*F because anything above that is useless.

Remember that it won't give full performance straight away, after a few runs it will improve.

You don't NEED to heat them, just to be safe don't unless you want max performance.

For the 1st several runs with it, make sure the lipo is not getting hot, it shouldn't be getting hot anyway, but you def don't want it getting hot when its new. Also go easy with it - use 3000 or 4000mah of its capacity and stop for a re-charge. Thats the other thing thats proving to be hard on a lipo, running them all the way down to a voltage cutoff, especially if its 6v, if you hav ethe optin with your setup, try 6.4v as a cutoff.

Thats a great pac, little care with it now will pay back later.

Think you'll find you need a diff balance tap adapter for your lipo. Venom Pro comes with JST or Align type balance connection. You'll need one for PolyQuest.

and my novak has a 6.4v cut off so it should be ok.

here is a pic

as for the balancing connector box .. the plug it fits into the 4 cell plug slot on the balance box that comes with the venom does that make a difference or am i gonna have to get a diff plug so it fits into the 2cell slot ... ugh i feel bad asking these questions

Also warming can stop your lipo from puffing when it is really cold

that is a problem with your balancing but you really shouldnt have to balance it for a while so buy a new adapter in a month or so.

I don't know enough about your balancer to know. Obviously you're not using all the wires in 4 cell plugin, but I don't know if the ones remaining will automatically balance the 2 cells correctly. Some are wired that way, some are not.

Can you see the voltage of the 2 cells while you're charging from your Venom - if you can, its working, so you're set.

ok i did the first charge and ran the car .. first thing i gotta say is wow this thing is waaayyy faster than before like silly fast .. (i was useing a 3300 nimh sport pack) pack stayed warm .. motor was warm . esc was a little hot but still average.

now when i charge up the pack again the amps drop from 5A slowly down to 3A then 2A and so on... the temp of the pack is not hot at all and the mah is around 2000 ish when this happens. i thought the battery stays on 5 Amps all the way to 5000mah

pls help a noob out

Lipo charge has 2 parts - the 1st is constant current (the 5amp you thought it would stay at). Then when max cell voltage of 4.2v is reached, the 2nd part of the charge begins - constant voltage. Charger holds the voltage constant and you'll see current slowly fall off as the batt tops off. This phase typically takes the longest time and puts in the smallest part of the charge, somewhere around 10%. You'll see this referred to as "CC/CV" lipo charge routine.

Chargers are beginning to feature a lipo fast charge option that does away with the CV part of the charge and you run with a +/-90% charge to save time.
