Default Problems with 645MG...

Hi:

Last week I bought a 645MG for my Wheely King (axle mounted) because I was worried about the stock servo being too week.
My surprise was that the 645MG lasted two batteries (the stock servo is still working after 20+ batteries).

When I checked it I realized that the last gear was completely striped.

Am I wrong or this servo should be ok for a Wheely King???

What could have happened?

thanks!!

It should be fine for the wheely king as long as end points are set correctly for the servo travel. You don't want the servo to bind anywhere through it's travel range. You may also want to put a servo saver on it to help cushion any impact the servo would get through the steering.

Thanks for your answer Brendan,

The endpoints where correctly set, but I skipped the servo saver assuming that, as stated by Hitec, the gears where "undestructible".

Do you know if the gearset is covered by Hitec's warranty?

best regards,

German

You still need the saver on there because the gears are brass/steel. They can be damaged with impact. The good thing is that we will cover the gear under the servos normal warranty. You can either send the servo to us with a copy of the receipt and we can replace it for you, or if you can email or fax me a copy of the receipt I can send you a gear set if you want to replace it yourself.
