Default Is This Lipo Still Safe

I haven't touched my toy cars for a year and was thinking about dusting them off. Do you think this battery is good to go?

I think you should dispose it, looks like it has expanded, the protective layers are damaged, for your own safety, get rid of it and get a new one.

Really not meaning to be a dink but common sence should prevail in this one.

Good point. Don't forget the popcorn!!!

Seriously, if the pack is swelled at all, which it looks like, I think it's time for a several day salt bath....isn't that how we are supposed to dispose of them???

I heard that it takes some specific methodology as noted in this old link.

I believe that for the Salt Water bath to work, each cell needs to be ruptured to discharge the pack effectively. In other words, carefully poke holes in each envelope within the pack.

Hope this helps!

Yeah it's swelled up at least to about 150% of its original size. Should be good for a club meet though.

Here is some reference material to review first. Given that it's just a club race I think it may be unfair to expect this level of professionalism, just do your best.

Wasn't Pedro the OP?

I think he may know that the battery is well stuffed.
Those Aussie's have a funny sense of humour...

And for anyone looking at this thread that is not sure, when you're LIPO looks like this it's best not to use it anymore and dispose of it correctly.
