I have a 12v gel cell in my Losi starter box but it doesnt seem to give it a enough to really bump the flywheel. What batteries are you guys using???

I've been battling with the heavy ass 12v gel cell that barely gets the job done and my buddy just got a 2200mAh Reedy lipo that makes that starter box roar! If you have or are willing to get a lipo charger the lipo battery is the way to go.

Just so you know, I am using an ofna chrome top box to start a Mammoth st with the stock 24.7 motor and it works great.

idk if im just lucky or what, I run 12volts gelcells in my truggy boxes and they turn over my high dollar, high compression RB's like no ones business...even when they were brand new, never an issue.
I will agree that lipos will be the best though, i just prefer my gelcells because i never have to charge them, and they're way cheaper, and i dont mind the weight.

Gel cells are cheep...but so are lipo's...you just have to know where to shop for em.....Ebay is your best friend when it comes to cheepo lipo's.....4 cell's go from 25-100$ 2200mah-8000mah.....i use a 2200 and dont even think about charging it for a weekend of racing....ill check it after but they usually go for at least a couple weekends...and they have 5X more power then any Stick pack could dream of having...THE only thing you have to watch out for is the C rating....DO NOT buy any battery with less then 20C....they will not have the punch and will feel like a 1/2 dead stick pack....if anything get a 25C pack to be extra safe.....just search 14.8V lipo in ebay...should pull up lots.
Item # 260345716573
thats the cheepest good pack that's on the bay currently.

I use two cheapo 3600's in my losi box. One thing to look at is that inside the losi box has a lot of tamiya type connectors. Get rid of all the connectors yuo can and either straight wire or use these:

Just a dean type connector. This will suprise you how much more effecient your box works for you.

4S LiPo (14.8V) is the way to go. You can get tons of cheap LiPo pack all over asia stores like unitedhobbies or through ebay.
LiPo is light and gives way more punch than NiMh.
I use Zippy-H 5000mah pack in my truggy box and True-RC 8000mah pack (actually made it from left over cells) in my buggy box. Both are little bit overkill as any decent 2000+mah will do, but at least I can charge them once a month.
I am done with NiMh as they just have so high self discharge rate.
The only NiMh I am ok with are in Glow Ignitor as my 3S LiPo powered powerpannel sometimes does crazy things.

+1.......

I rewired my last losi box with some deans noodle wire and then added deans plugs with a set of 3300mah nimh stick packs and the box would turn over a brand new C6 with no problems......
