Default xl5 ????

do you think i could run a10 or an 11 turn motor on my stock xl5 esc? they are rated for 15 turns. but my friend hasd a motor that he would like me to try out in my slash. if the esc got to hot from it would it just go into thermal shutdown or would it smoke it? i would only be running for 5 mins, would it be okay or not

if it is rated for a 15 or higher i wouldent try one of those. a traxxas esc probably doesn't have a thermal shutdown .

I thought the Traxxas XL-5 had lower turn ocunt that it can handle. Considering the motor that comes with the Slash is a 12 turn Titan. You should be ok if it's a 12 turn. 11 I'm not sure. I wouldn't do an 11 just to be safe.

the xl-5 has a 12 turn limit 550 size motor, 15 turn 540 size motor
the xl-10 has a 10 turn limit 540 size motor. (does not say anything for 550 size motor)
the vxl-3 does not have a brushed motor limit can use any.

according to traxass it does have a thermal shutdown. but i dont think they are built all that great and you would smoke it out if you went below the limit.

hope this helps

It might be ok for a couple minutes.
Check the temp every 30-60 seconds.
Im pretty Sure traxxas puts a little lee-way into that rating.
I once accidently ran a titan 12 with an xl-1, the xl1 got really hot but I realized that you cant do that at the end of the day.
