I have ran their lipos for TC racing and they just have not worked for me. Both packs always needed to be balanced. I have not had to balace any of the other 3 competitors battery's ever. They also could not handle 4.5 Mod. Both packs swelled. I just don't think they use a high quality cell. IMO

Maxamps sucks.

Thats my opinion wanna see me whoop some ass on 18months old orion batteries ?

I use smc lipo's too i love those. the best. I have no idea about their longevity though yet.

I am a 1/10th scale off road racer and i use a 10.5 mostly/7.5 for big tracks in 2wd and 2 7.5's in truck and 4wd.

I dont have a problem, bought a used saddle from my friend for my b44 and it runs good. Only thing I have a complaint about is that it isnt hardcased.

Rediculous!

I have a MaxAmps 7.4v 6000mAh soft pack that I've run for well over a year. In my Slash I get over an HOUR of run time. It's as strong as the day I bought it.

I also have a MaxAmps 7.4v 4200SS 30C hard pack. Been running it for three months now. I run two heats and a Main twice a week, plus random practice days. No problems whatsoever. Did the price go up $22 after I bought it? Yes. So what?

Ultimately, people are going to bitch about what they're going to bitch about. If I've learned anything about online forums, it's that 50% of the people don't know shit about what they're posting about, 10% SWEAR that their buddy had one blow up, 10% flat-out lie just so they can have somebody talk to them, which leaves 20%. Those are the people who will tell you what they have, how long they have had it, and what their experience has been.

That being said: I challenge you to find one person who has had a problem with a MaxAmps product, that didn't get it resolved immediately by the company.

As for the cost: you get what you pay for.
You make a number of good points here--always appreciate your input. I run Orion LiPos and love 'em but those are for my 1/10 scale. Now that I am doing the 1/8th scale conversions I wanted to go 4S and searched the interweb extensively. Maxamps had the goods! I searched Tower and ePay and nothing for 4S.

Anyway, I have my two 4S 5000mAh LiPos from Maxamps and am itching to give them a try. Damn snow here in CO! Oh well, it has also been my experience you get what you pay for and just look at the awards they got for best battery in 2008. Customer service and website are phenomenal so will hedge my bets and "live and learn" if I have to . . .

I'll be curious to know how they work in your 1/8th scale conversion. But that's a topic for a different thread!

My experience with Max Amps is limited, but in general positive. I purchased two of the 1600 mah 6-cell 2/3a ready-to-build packs from them in November. They had the order to me the next day. It's nice that they are only about 25 miles away from me. About two weeks later I received a hand-written thank you card from them. That was a nice touch and something you likely won't find anywhere else. This has zero effect on the performance of thier products, but it at least gives the image that they take customer service and after-sale follow-up seriously.
Now for the not so good. Per my Reedy and LRP chargers, Intellect 1400's have more capacity and voltage

This thread really needs some Eagletree graphs, otherwise it's all hearsay. If I had some graphs showing a direct comparisson I would post them. From my memory seeing them on other sites, the MA packs can't hold voltage as long and have a more severe drop off. Ok, just searched and found this thread from earlier this year:

http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...hlight=maxamps

Nothing against MA, just trying to point to some evidence. Hope it's helpful.

interesting results, but that graph isn't very clear on which line represents what pack.

on a sidenote, I have a MA 6k pack that seems to only take ~4500mah, but that could have been caused by the rather iffy GTB's lipo cutoff.

Yeah, not the best info I'll admit - but it was all I had found with a quick search. That thread is more of a testimony to the TrueRC packs than solid info on MA. Sorry, wish I had more info - you could post a topic on RC-Monster if you wan the graphs on MA.

While I can't comment on the quality of their product, I personally have sent two emails to MaxAmps regarding their products, just questions about them and their compatibility before I buy. I received no response. If they don't have time to respond to simple questions, then I don't have time to give them my money. My business went elsewhere.
