The esc is roar legal (there isnt an esc that exists that isnt roar legal). the motors are not, and they have no plans of making roar legal motors(they wind the motors diffrently and in a way they feel is superior, and wont go through the process to make a diffrent motor for the small market that racing is).

in theory, it will run any of them. in reality, it runs mod motors much better. high turn motors (10.5+) can have some issues getting off the line, and the tall gearing required for those doesnt help any. most people say that 8.5's and below generally work fine.

Castle is working on a new 1/10 esc that will have a sensor port, and thus be able to run any roar legal motor with no issues whatsoever. dont ask me when its coming out, because i have no idea at this point. hopefully it should be out by next year by the time your racing starts

That would be awesome if they did make a package that was legal.

yes, read what i said above. with low turn mods, its works pretty well. with the higher turn stock/spec motors, it will struggle getting off the line (cogging)

its sad that roar cant do somethin intelligent like 'open' rules for mod motors (with respect to safety and price). oh well, most club tracks dont go dracconian on rules for club races.

It's really sad the castle creations muddies the market and confuses customers by even offering their product for sale. All they have to do to get roar approval is to submit it like everyone else that is on the approved list. Tells me they're doing something fishy.

The basis of Castle motors, the slotless rotor, is what is not approved according to 2008 ROAR rules. Read the link posted above, it explains why Castle makes their motors the way they do. Nothing "fishy", just a very good performing product with an awesome tuning tool, Castle Link.

I'm not really familliar with ROAR rules on brushless. The way I look at it is mamba is been doing brushless system for a long time they have tested sensored system before and sensored based motor generate more heat means less motor life that is what my LHS told me.
