I haven't looked at what types of saddle packs they have to offer yet. Just saw their ad in one of the magazines. They might have a 4 cell equivalent and typically LIPOs have slightly higher voltage rating than a NiMH. We'll have to look and see.

Their 6 cell equivalent voltage is a bit higher but the only way to get a lower voltage is to cut it in half from 7.4v to 3.7v which is quite a bit less then the 4.8v we run in 4 cell. There's another cell technology I saw posted here that can get to 4.8v but it isn't a legal cell for racing.

So after talking to two freinds of mine who are both building 1/12th scales at this very moment. (new releases) Both of these guys are very disgusted with the fit and finish of this new car.

This sucks because I was so excited to get 1/12th sclae to run asphalt and now I dont know which car to try. Im not new to On Road, but I know absolutely nothing about 1/12th.

I want to go with a brand that is known for perfect fit and finish. Parts availability would be good too.

Help?

DB12R. With the BMI, Boca, and IRS parts it is a winner and all precise. There are like 3 ASSociated molded parts. The rest is nice and precise stuff. By the way. There is a .5 second faster lap time guarantee that comes with it. jkjk, but seriously you will be so much faster with it.

have to agree with rcsteve. I have build a few 1/12 and the bmi car is the best fit and finish that I have build. all of Jason's parts are perfect fit. the only gotch that I had with the bmi db12r was the front arms and jason does not make those.

On another note, 1/12 is all about the "little" things, so if you don't like to fiddle, then 1/12 is probably not for you. I mean a 0.010" shim under the front shock mount does a lot to the steering of a 1/12, just imagine shimming the wheels out 0.010" from the steering block.

i've never seen a 1/12th scale go together like an X-Ray touring car. i start r/c racing with pan cars (RC10L and RC12LW) and the current 1/12th scale cars have come a long way since then. since 2008 i've owned both the BMI DB12R and the Team Speedmerchant Rev 5. each car has their own pluses and thankfully they are both more durable than a RC12L4.

i would encourage your friends to either post on this forum or their car specific forum.

in 1/12 the building of the front end is very important. i'd recommend they check out the following links:

Richard Chang's stuff:

All of Mark Payne's stuff: http://markpayneblog.blogspot.com/20...nd-review.html

the CRC manuals are great: http://www.teamcrc.com/crc/modules.p...showpage&pid=7

Default 1/12 LiPOs

Here's a link to a good discussion of LiPOs on light weight cars such as our cool 1/12 cars

I've just noticed that in the graphite suspension accessories pack (part no. 4542) that there are two spacers to limit how much side to side movement is available in the rear suspension. Under what circumstances would you use these?

I will be racing outdoors on asphalt and soon indoors on carpet. I've never raced on carpet so I'd appreciate a bit of advice on setup. I race an Associated RC12L4.

i have seen those, but have never seen then run. on carpet most have even drop to .068 t bars with 2 screw. so not sure why you would need to restrick the pod rotation.

I'm getting back into racing after a 4 year break and I decided on a 12th scale as I don't want the hassle of TC plus it's a lot cheaper and it's more fun to drive. Anyways I'm on the fence on what to get a CRC Gen-X or 12R5. Any opinions?
