I run in good 'ol povvo 540pro, with a 32g servo, a vfs1 speedy ans a futaba 3pk receiver. I also don't run a heatsink, and all the wiring in no longer than it needs to be (including trimmed servo leads). When I bought the car off a mate it had all the good stuff: lightweight everything, aluminium and titanium fasteners everywhere etc etc.
I didn't know it was underweight until I got pinged by a scrutineer at an event.
So there you go, I'd love to say I did well to get the weight down, but I didn't. Unlike my off roaders, I just drive the MSX once a week, and don't think too much about it in between times. I do know that a stock or a mod motor weigh significantly more than the Johnson, though.

So obviously LiPo is going to affect different motor classes differently. The 540s being lighter are more likely to have to add weight. Though I'm not sure how much difference there is in the masses of different motors. If anyone has a set of scales and the inclination, could they let us know exactly? (Do brushless and brushed if possible.)
Just to clarify one of my previous posts. I was wondering what would happen if Stock TC stayed at 6 cells while Mod TC was 5 cells, in the long run.

OK, some weights.. (off my cheap digital kitchen scales)
A 540 with leads (as pulled from a Tamiya kit) weighs 161 grams..
A CO27 stock motor (no leads) weighs 155 grams..
Sorry, can't do a brushless, I dont own one..
It does seem that the 540 and CO27 would be very similar in weight..

When lipo battery becomes more acceptable, there isn't the need to discharge batteries. In fact with a lipo you might even be able to run 2 races on 1 charge without any loss in performance.

... I own one and with typical modern electronics its, usually, at least 30g overweight with no weight added... I think at scrutineering yesterday in 5 cell it was 1478g (1450g weight limit)
