team magic m1b

hey british menace, like you i bought a m1 turbo. Got it in early march and built it over a few days, just waiting on my radio and the slew of spares i ordered from a main. I think you mentioned your going to be racing on hard packed dirt/clay which is exactly what i will be racing on. Hopefully we can share some setup up tips in the future as there are very few people running this buggy stateside.
Anyway, im trying to understand your last post and i think i know what you mean. When you apply the brakes, is the brake linkage stopper hitting the servo arm? this is a problem i had, my solution was to bend the linage away from where it was hitting and it appears i am getting full braking, but i wont be 100% sure until i get it broken in and running. The brake linkage should be longer than what they tell you in the instruction manual so the stopper doesnt hit.
Heres my setup
Team Magic M1-Turbo
Go Technology turbo 7 port
052 dynamite platinum pipe
ace ds1015 steering servo
ace ds1313 throttle servo
Dx 3.0 radio< which i am waiting for still
another thing i noticed last night is the lack of front front sway bar with the ones provided, the rear sway is much thicker so i moved this one to the front and the front to the rear. they are different lengths so the front protrudes a bit where the linage is an the rear is barley long enough, hopefully this will give some better rear traction, i also added some weight to the back that hopefully will help.

I'm having to take my time on the buiuld as I'm trying to get other cars ready too

Not sure we are talking about the same linkage but I'll have another look. Lowey70 has written an interesting post just after your original which you might want to read.
On the car set up. I'm looking at lightening the car quite then looking at adding weight to the rear as you have done.
On the brake thing again. I'm going to put an adjustable tie rod, a little like the steering tir roids, to join the two brake levers on the centre diff. It's this linkage, which comes in one piece stock, which I find to bind at full brake. Using the adjustable tie rod should enable also for me to alter front/rear brake bias as grip/conditions alter.............I think..lol
If you want to look at getting more spare parts, try
www.ultralinehobbies.com
They have quite alot for the M1B TURBO ! I just got the LX Shocks and K Factory towers from them.

What diff' set upi are you going with?
I'm starting out with,
Front: 7000WT
Middle: 5000WT
Rear: 5000WT
I also got the Team COBRA rear wing which is much better then stock and should help with rear traction too.

thanks menace for that link, they have a bunch of stuff including the option parts that amain doesn't have. I understand what you mean with the brake bias now and thats a great idea to put in the adjustable linkage in. Im working on a rear chassis stiffener as the back tends to flex a lot and i don't like the kfactory one.
Thats an awesome deal tmizzle!
edit: starting diff i went with 7-5-3

i dont like how it mounts to the top of the shock tower, im going to try to keep the low profile when i make one, and have it go farther forward. It has alot of flex without anything in the rear and im worried the kfactory one doesnt go far enough forward and will just shift the flex from the back to the middle of the chassis.

Did you have a look at the Team Cobra rear wing? They have it on A Mains site and it's on clearence too!
This wing has alot more down force then the stock TM one and helps the car 'fly' better in the jumps. A little work has to be done when bolting it to the car. Others have just cut out the bracket off the TM and screwed it to the new wing. I'm making an aluminium bracket so as I can still have the wing as a standby (??...not sure if thats a good idea or not...lol)

i ordered the himoto v2 high down force wing, i plan to leave the stock one till it breaks. The only reason i would opt against an aluminum mount is in a race it might bend causing your wing to remain tweaked, as where plastic will just absorb an impact and return to its normal state.

I was hoping to use an aluminium bracket and incorporate more adjustability into it?? At the same time address some of the weight distribution too by being slightly heavier.
I may then just use the bracket cut from the stock TM wing. I can always buy another wing I guess??
When are you out racing again smracer31?
By the way, the name's Tony.

"Part #560570 M1 adjustable brake linkage set"
Thought it might be of help to you while you're playing around with your brakes....

I'm looking at decreasing the 'anti-squat' on the car from -1 to making it pro-squat, maybe +1 or at least flat (0).
Any ideas on how to get that people?
Regards all.

Ps: smcracer, what tires are you planning on running on that track you talked about? I was told the "Panther Switch - clay compound" are the only one's to use on our track??!

i bought a set of m2's (pro-line) which is what everybody at the local track is running but I've still yet to see another m1-b in person so i am totally blind on the setup at this point. just trial and error, luckily my local track is open from 4-11 t and th so i should get it sorted fairly quickly. I am going to try to make the practice next Tuesday if i can get my engine back by Monday, if not i will go on Thursday and let you know what i figure out.
#403
This should give you 0° anti-squat.
NOTE: You may have to shim the rare lower arms or shorten the hinge pins for this to work?
#404
The "front, rear, lower hinge pin plate" to get the anti-squat to 0Degrees.....ok. Thanks Lowey! Will look at getting another plate.
Now. On the subject of shock set-up.
The stock dampers come with three hole pistons but I've noticed the new LX dampers come with 2 hole pistons?............ I guess K Factory must have heard that drivers were running stiffer dampers then stock?
What set-up were you running Lowey?

I hope you get your motor back soon.
I will be interested to see what set up you settle on/like.
