I was running my lipo for the first time today in a brushed setup. What happened was the car suddenly stopped after a good 10 mins and there was no power going to the motor. I turned it off immediately and checked the voltage. It was reading 5.98v.

The thing is, my charger does not come in till some time next week hopefully. I have no way to see if it accepts a charge or not. Do you guys think the battery is ruined. Right now, it is showing exactly 5.98v.

The battery is pretty much a paper weight now When a lipo cell drops below 3.0v per cell there is a chemical reaction within the cell that renders it useless. If the battery read 5.98v after being run than it's a sure bet it was well below 6v in the car under load. When you get your charger you can try to charge it, but don't get your hopes up. You should be using an esc with a lipo cutoff, if you aren't you should limit your runs to 5 mins.

Don't let it happen again, but don't worry, your LiPo will be OK. 3.0v is the industry "safe" voltage. Decent quality LiPo cells are OK down to 2.7v. Your pack will take a charge just fine.

If you lipo has droped below the suggested limit, just charge @ 50 mA untill the battery is in the correct range (ie. 6.0v+) Then you can charge normally @ the 1C limit. You may have taken some life from the battery but It should not be a "paper weight" by any means :fingers crossed: The only thing is you say theres a week before your charger gets in...I would definitly charge it sooner than that. Don't let it sit a week below 6v. IMO

Yea,I would go to your local hobby store ASAP and get the battery charged. Just charge initially at a low rate until the battery comes up then charge at a normal 1C. A buddy of mine left his receiver lipo on for a whole day. He did revive the battery. but he says he doesn't get the same run time.

2.7v is the low voltage on LiPo cells. We use 3v per cell to have that cushion. So you are fine, just get it charged up when you get a chance. You haven't damaged anything.

if it read 5.98v when you took it out of the car, let it sit for a day, and the voltage will have come up to 6+v.

Maybe your ESC does have a LiPo cutoff, but needs to be set properly. What kind of ESC do you use. Also, how did you charge the battery to run it and why are you running it with no charger. Another thing to remember is a balancer. The first thing I would do to the battery in question is put it to the balancer!
