Default Reciever question

i have a question. since i have the futaba 2PL, (dont hate, i love simplicity, lol) which im pretty sure is the AM, how could i use a transponder? im not sure if the battery slot is filled, or if its empty, because cant the reciever get power through the esc, which goes into one of the servo spots? or is there any 3 channel AM recievers, or any FM recievers that work with the 2PL? sorry, im new to this, and dont know what i have to do.

Your battery slot should be empty. And you're right most electric cars get the power for the receiver and servo from the esc. which is supplied through the three wire lead connected from the esc to the receiver.
If you don't have a battery slot then you will need to get a 'Y' cord or splice into the esc supply.
