well i shortened my wire to exactly 3.6" and the wire is still frayed and now on my mamba the red light blinks and nothing moves just the servo, and somtimes it shuts off when i turn the servo. i don't want to send it back i just want 2 know what is wrong. should i replace the wire? wat???

hello I had this same problem my servos were very jitery etc etc so I replace my spek rx sr3000 with another i had which had a full length antenna and the problem went away so I have no other choice to send it back for a new antenna , I am good with using soldring iron but when I opened the rx up I saw staright away that i am not that good.off to horizon hobby for a new antenna!

Seems to me Spectrums dont like being touched. I re located my tx modual wire and lost all my range did every thing right but had a very expensive run a way . I bought a new pro version.
Can you send them to get repaired to Horizon????

Yes you can send your equipment in for service. The antenna's are not user serviceable. If you need to have it replaced you can send it in for the techs to take care of.

i purchased a spectrum system for my m-8 used and installed into my buggy and all of a sudden i would get a runawy and then would shut down and i could not steer or throttle just dead '''' of course this was after i hit a wall or something '''' if i turned esc off and back on it would work for a while, switched the reciever thinking i had a bad purchase as it was used, ,,, same thing happened, so next step was to swap the motor with another ""brushed motor === never know""" same thing no difference at all, so i switched esc's novak gt-7 with another out of my truck, same thing again i was at a loss so i asked one of the local guys that is by far more intelligent with this stuff than i and he stated " only thing left is servo and besides had the same thing happen to ne couple a weeks ago, swap that out it will be fine" == ok swapped out servo and tada problem solved servo never had a problem with other reciever which was not spektrum even tried servo in another radio set up again and it seems to work fine, but it caused a problem with the spektrum system.

I run my Spektrum in 12 different cars and have never had a problem once.

I've never had to add a cap to my receiver.

I've never had a receiver short out.

I've never have any runaways.


Crazy part about all of this is that I've never shortened my antenna, I've never subjected my cars to anything that would require radio modification.


Maybe it isn't a problem with Spektrum but all the fiddling you do with it...to get that ever so important .0000000001 of a second?

Same here, multiple receivers and two different spektrum radios and no problems to report. My 2 friends haven't had any issues either.

Yep, spektrum is all good here on my third purchase and lovin' them! Think you may have touch on something here Abailey21.

By users that can't solder

I've resoldered the antenna on 4 receivers so far. The antenna either got ripped out, cut too short or melted while someone was trying to solder thier battery in. Its not hard, you just have to have the right tip and some skills.

I'll be resoldering mine in the next couple days (got wrapped around the rear axle) I'll post pics of the process

cant agree more use a magnifying glass, and its like soldering a car battery cable.

Well, I didn't use a magnifying glass, but I did use an 80 watt mastercraft soldering iron with the big tip Just to show that you don't need special stuff to do it, just skills.

The little peice I took out only shortens the wire to a little over 7 inches. While I was in there I thought I would do somthing with the ugly green led and since I didn't have blue I put in a red one, (again with the 80 watt iron)
