Changing LRP SPEHRE wires!!
#1
I have the LRP SHPERE COMPETITION TC speed control and I want to change the wires. I want to change the Blue Yellow and Orange one all to black. I'm pretty sure a ton of people have.
My problem is that I am having problem soldering off the wired from the ESC. I melt off the bottom but I can't seem to pull them out. I can clearly see the bottom where the wires connect to the ESC melting but I can't pull the wires off. Does anybody have any suggestions on doing this?
I was thinking of cutting them and then just soldering over the spots and putting the new wires directly over the previous ones. Does that work or is it a bad idea? I would really appreciate some advice. I have never had so much trouble soldering anything like this.

Are you using a flat tip or a point? If you're using the fine pointed tip it will never get hot enough. I'm using a Hako soldering station with the stock tip it comes with and I can do the wires on that speed control just fine. I've doone it a few times. With the external solder tabs, hold the iron underneath the wire like you were. You might just need to clean the tip or if you're not tinning the tip with solder first, do that.

yep medium to big sized iron tip and a good iron (I can use my Weller 40W track iron if needed, but I prefer my wifes 80W Weller she uses for stained glass projects). Makes quick work of the job!
