Hello guys,

Was just wondering what are the good or necessary upgrades
for the Kanai 2?

Also, I noticed that there are different kinds of tire patterns (if
at all you call it pattern), what are the different ones for and
is there a best all around patterns or tread?

Bodies: What is a good body?

Any help would be appreciated..

LOL . Ron, you got the Kanai 2 already...you don't need to add more money on that buggy anymore. All you need are tuning parts like different shock springs, tires, gearing, clutch setup, engine/pipe combo.

The blue springs is universal to all tracks here in CA. You might wanna get the white (hard) fronts and rears for additional tuning option. You don't need to go softer than blue springs. Tires that work are: Pro-lines M2 Crimefighters, Panther's Chameleon and Step Pin tires (see Ebay and search for Panther tires-someone is selling it dirt cheap $29 a set.). For rims....the Kyosho, Proline(Velocity), and OFNA dish wheels aren't bad. For gearing, you should have the 13T and 46T spur...I would invest in getting th 14T pinions and 48T spurs for small tracks. Use 13/48 for small tracks to give you all the power to clear those tight jumps. 14/48 or 13/46 ...at large tracks like KZ. Right now, you have the blue aluminum 3 clutch shoes. I changed mine to the black composite 3 piece with the 1.1 springs to give me more bottom. For te engine/pipe...I have a Novarossi base engine the REX P5 with a RB 9886 pipe...using cold standard plugs #7-8 or Mccoy 9s. Ride height (use set screws on arms) front are universals slightly higher ..rear universals level ( I did this because of the jumps at my track) ...For bodys...any...doesn't matter...it's not like our Lolas you know......you can use Protoform's Crowd Pleazer, Trinitys Wasp, original Kyoshos.....I would go for the cheap Crowd Pleazer.

Question for you:

What type of battery pack do I need for it?
Seem like the battery holder or case fits a type of
pack that has a different configuration than the
standard inline cells..

Ron - Welcome to the wonderful world of 1:8 offroad. I guarantee you'll have fun. I didn't think I would like it as much as onroad but I think it's way more fun. Anyway, you'll probably be needing a 5 cell hump pack for the Kanai 2. Where do you plan to run it.

Tambok - I've almost got my buddies convinced to take a trip down to KZ for a Sat race. I really can't wait to actually race this thing.

Rod- Thanks man.. I finally was able to get one. I pretty much
have everything ready for it except the Battery Pack & the
Pipe & or just the Off-Road manifold.

Let me know when you're
going to KZ to run Off-Road, that way I can try to schedule
myself to go with you guys. I am sure it'll be a lot easier for
me to get used to this car with you, phillip and edwin
around.

Philip - Thanks for the info on the battery pack and the other
stuff. I placed a bid on those tires on Ebay, hopefully I
get them..

By the way, how about alignment settings, what do you
guys run on yours? i.e. camber, toe, etc.?

Dang, bro. I forgot to tell you. That guy on EBAY can give you a good deal if you buy a lot from him. You don't have wait and bid. Try e-mailing him. Those Panther tires in hobby shops sells for $17 to $19 a pair. He can give you a very low price if you buy a lot from him.

setup:
front
1 toe out, -1 camber, 60 wt., white springs,universals arms level
rear
stock toe-out, -2 camber, 40 wt., blue springs, universals slightly higher arms level.
diff setup: 5k front, 7k center, 3K rear (all regular diffs)

How is the MP6 different from the K2?

The K2 is a 7.5, which came after the MP6(MP6 is an older design).

The two biggest differences between the 6 and 7.5 are that the wishbones are longer on the 7.5 and the diffs are significantly smaller.

Which RB, WS7 or C5? I've heard that newer batches of RBs are not as good as they used to be, probably because they have to make more of them than they used to. However, from what I have seen they are both really good engines, the C5 has ridiculous amounts of power!!!
Siro engines I have not seen a lot of so can't really comment on them, although with their pedigree they can't be too bad.
I run a Picco G1/XP in my Kanai, a lovely engine with loads of torque.
I don't think it really matters which engine you go for, they are all pretty close in performance. Pick the one you like the most, or you can easily get tuning advice for.

Thanks for the response..
The RB I was referring to is the C5. I have not
tried nor seen a WS7 work yet. How is these motors
(C5 and WS7) different from eachother?

Another question for you: Have you tried or seen someone use an
On-Road Motor on a buggy. If so, how was it performing?

Just a thought.?
