Default My 1/18th Carpet track

This is my 1/18th carpet track that we have built, thanks to my Father in Law for letting us use his shed. The track is carpet laid out on a floating timber floor ( a dance floor ) then the edging was nailed to the floor, the length of the track is 68m long and 1.8m at it's widest, and perfect for 1/18th tourers. We run a mixture of cars from hopped up HPI Micro RS4, M18's and now M18 Pros, and are trying to keep to a standard as far as motors go, we are using orion big blocks, mamba 6800kv detuned and now X Ray super 370's , but are also starting to try and get a stock 180 class. We are using a borrowed AMB transponder setup for fortnightly races, which makes the racing so much more fun and competetive.
Enjoy

Laying Carpet..

Temporary layout (testing)

Track : this is the track at the moment , pit tables are at the end as is the computer, pic was taken standing on additional pit tables at the other end of the track, lap times we are getting are around the 12-13 second mark which is damn quick, it is so much fun. We now hare fortnightly racing with full transponder computer timing and weekly practice times.

Hard at it , it took me 90 mins to complete as we were racing that night, put it on the track and it stuck like it was on rails..

Body pick..

Wow, not only a clone of a DP product, you spam the entire micro section, and you even post it in a thread dealing with Xray cars.

Real good way to do business there chief.

Wow. Really nice track. Great job.

For a transponder system, in case you ever wanted to stop borrowing the AMB system and wanted to buy something affordable, you might check out the I-Lap race timing system.

We recently purchased the system for our new track and it's working out perfectly.
