brushed or brushless?

With the Sphere you can set the RPM limit to 24,000. This pretty much simulates a stock 27 turn motor.

so I can actually set the speed on the speed control?
so how many kinds of brushless systems are out there?

on another note, if you want to know a good way to accurately guage your cars top speed, you can do so with little other than some duct tape, a tape measure, and a calculator.
first, you put two pieces of tape on the ground 50 feet apart. use the tape measure to do this accurately. then, you drive the car across the two pieces of tape at top speed. have a friend use a stopwatch to time how long it took for the car to cross from the first piece of tape to the second.
divide 50 feet by the number of seconds it took for the car to cross the tape, and multiply THAT number by 0.682
you should then see your cars top speed in m.p.h.
ex: if your car had a time of 0.8 seconds, its speed was 43 m.p.h.
try it!

I don't have a ta05 nor brushless (only have a tt01)
maybe I can use this information later

The other limitations, you would do with your transmitter.
Currently, the 2 best brushless systems are the LRP Sphere with Neo motor or the Novak GTB with Novak brushless motors. Novak makes a SuperSport brushless speed controller too. I'm not sure what the SuperSport story is all about.

-Brushed for more performance, more abilty to tune, but more maintainance.
-Brushless for less performance, less abilty to tune, but less maintainance.

Can a brushless system handle highre voltages for higher speed? I saw an article where they installed 8 cells and then 11 in a touring car and it did over 100Mph
I was thinking of installing 2 LiPo cells in a touring car to give 15 volts
Cheers

oh, can a car really bare that much speed?
#55
Actually the 11 cell car did 80 mph. it was a special car with 21 cells that did over 100

then the 21 cells car is faster than other nitro cars right?
by the way, are brushless motors making lots of sound?

not any more than a brushed would @ same volts

Yeah, if anything, I'd say brushless is quieter. My Neo is quieter than all of my other brushed motors.
#59
by the way, are they as hot as the brush motor?
and how much are they? (the whole system)
thanks

i recently picked up an issue of rc car action magazine, in which they had a head to head shootout between the neo/sphere, and the novak ss/5800.
they said that the neo was =to a 9 turn, and the 5800 was =to an 8 turn, however the novak motor had a top speed of 35 mph and the sphere had reached 40 mph durring radar testing. they ran the motors in the same car,(2 wheel drive buggy) and geared both identically.
i dont know why that is so.
oh yeah, prices:
sphere=......189
neo=..........90
ss esc=......185
ss5800=.....85
(prices vary with dealer)
and if by "hot" you meant temperature, i hear they run cooler because of lack of friction.
