What I am trying to show is the comparative cost of a set of tires, that it is more expensive than a car service to the hotel or a day's stay at the hotel.
I am not showing this for budgetary purpose, it is to show the ridiculous pricing for tires.
Paid drivers have shared with me their concern on the cost of tires, it's not just me.

RC hobby is expensive, but it become more expensive if you want to be competitive lately.
I don’t want to bring this up: I don’t see much newcomers joining the hobby, specifically onroad.
And manufacturers become so serious want to win the race too. Just for me, I don’t see a lot of friendly top racing, it is just hobby.

in all honesty modified TC racing is way cheaper than spec racing, there’s no special batteries motor, chargers or some secret voodoo magic that’s needed for mod
you’ll have all the speed you ever want and ever need

Yes and no. No need for the motor of the month, but tyre wear, drivetrain wear, collision damage is much higher.

Modified is still like the old days of Nicad, not enough power and drivers need to modulate the pace due to battery fade.
It is battery wars in modified, making the battery lighter, lower cg, yet maintain a higher average discharge voltage. Competitive life is probably 16 cycles or 6 months, whichever comes first. Popular is Gens Ace and Cayote.
Gens Ace is kind to give my daughter a few brand new packs every TITC

I think it's come back around to having just enough capacity to make run time, but for an entirely different reason than in the round cell days.
Why carry extra weight around in power you won't use when you can put the weight you save by running a small battery low in the car in the form of tungsten, brass, or steel?

There is a tipping point. Power vs handling compromise. Modified drivers gravitated to 6100 ~ 6500mah and will see a 0.5sec drop off from lap 10 onwards. Why not slap a bigger battery? Lap times will be slower.
After running 23 days of modified, my daughter tells me it feels like 17.5T Blinky. Her fastest lap was a 15.4s whereas the pre-covid Champion time was around 15.9s.
With better battery tech drivers would be lapping 1 second faster.
Never enough power
