Yep, my math was off.

My assumption is Traxxas raised the price because they feel they priced it too low. They undercut Associated by $10. If that other number is what I think it is, there was absolutely no reason to raise the price, unless something is coming that they see, but we haven't yet.

Honestly, I feel like it's still a pretty good value for what it is.

If Traxxas hits a home run with this one, we will probably see additional increases. That's the way they operate.

I don't disagree with you, but Traxxas should have factored this in and the price point of the other offerings on the market before setting the price. I don't think raising the price on a product that isn't even on the market yet and was announced roughly a month ago is a good look. But, I don't know the reason for the price hike, so those are just my opinions, like I said, there maybe something on the horizon, like a possible increase in material costs that we are unaware of.

I had an interesting conversation with my local Traxxas dealer when I asked about the ETA of the Mini Maxx. He told me, he knew as a dealer they were going to make this truck since around July. Also there are only about 5 actual runners for demo use, and as of now, no ETA on actual release. According to him, there not even here on U.S. shores yet. Every truck his store has been allotted for sale are already spoken for. He even showed me a box with spare parts for the truck, to get an idea of the actual size. Even with the price increase, seems these will sell out as soon as they arrive. It may be a while till we get our hands on one.

According to Traxxas they will be in stores November 29th and that's always been the case, so I don't know why your dealer told you what they did or where they got their info. At this time I wouldn't rely on it, other than all of their allocated trucks being sold. At this point in time I would bet that the first batch is on U.S. soil and that the youtubers already have theirs or will get them next week. I wouldn't be surprised if stores start getting their demos in 7-10 days. I'm sure back in July there were only 5 pre-production models. Maybe your dealer got confused with info about when the second batch is going to be shipped? Wouldn't surprise me at all if the first batch is completely sold out.

I bought four of them, now you guys have me considering trying to price gouge on eBay for Christmas time.....lol

Looks like several reviews are showing 3S is not possible without extensive upgrades to the drive train. Little disappointed the 1/10 scale robustness is seemingly missing as delivered. I canceled my order. I’m sure there will be plenty of smiles come Christmas. It looks to be a fun little truck on 2s but a “Maxx”, IMHO, it is not.

I've been watching you tube reviews and boy, the mini Maxx is sure getting beat up pretty good. I can't imagine this is the launch that Traxxas was hoping for.

It will sell regardless, but still not without controversy.

I've probably watched close to a dozen review videos, all who put a 3s VXL power system broke the rear diff. Those who left it on 2s were perfectly fine. Whats funny is that RC Driver, and Mark Santa Maria were testing these at a dealer event a few months ago, and you could clearly hear the Traxxa's rep say this truck will come stock with a slipper clutch. Seems Traxxas decided to remove that feature, and is now going to pay a heavy price on the social front to save a few dollars all while jacking the price up.

I'm curious if the sudden removal of that slipper clutch has anything to do with the recent recalls going on. With both Europe and Australia recalling some Traxxas models for having asbestos in their slipper pads. Eiither that or it'll be sold as an "upgrade".

I dunno, unless if you need immediate replacement parts or enjoy exploring a vast aftermarket with questionable options, I'm having a difficult time seeing the value in a Traxxas.

Ah Traxxas makes some great RCs, plenty of value there, just depends on the individual. In this case, it appears some late product decisions and oversight might miss the mark on the launch of the mini Maxx.

I’ve been into RCs for a couple decades, love them or hate them, I’ve met plenty of new comers to the hobby that started with a Traxxas vehicle. We need more people in our hobby. I build most of what I drive now, at least to some extent, but it all started with RTR to instill the bug and buy from lesser known brands that have higher value because I can build what I want.

I saw on Facebook that Traxxas has removed some of the wording on the mini Maxx section of the website. It used to say "bulletproof drivetrain", but that has been removed as of late.

I just find that very interesting.

Picked up one of these on a whim a few days ago. So far I'm generally impressed - I think it has plenty of power in the stock form (still going to mod it with a spare VXL-3 setup), handles decently, and we vhaven't broken it yet despite some hits with bigger trucks. My only major gripe so far is that the steering layout is highly suspectable to getting fouled with snow/ice - there's just enough room for it to get in but not enough for it to get out, and so after a few minutes the vehicle won't turn in one direction (seems to mostly affect going left).

Haven’t watched a review, but if they are as bad as you guys are saying, I’m glad I held off. Traxxas seems to be making promises they can’t keep. I would have been pissed if I preordered and received something that didn’t live up to expectations and their marketing hype.

Pretty sure you can hear the guy from Traxxas state that the Mini Maxx will handle 3s with no problems in that video filmed at the show as well. The appeal of this truck was an overbuilt mini that could have a ton of power thrown at it. Traxxas should do right by people and send them free parts.

They advertised a bullet proof driveline and people bought the truck based on that. Can you say false advertisement? Maybe it’s time for Traxxas to be sued.

Usually if a company releases an incomplete (no slipper clutch in this case) or a faulty product, there will be a recall. In this particular case Traxxas should probably start installing center diffs in as standard. It's a $200+ mini with a cheap brushless system, I can't see a single upgrade eating into their profit margins.
