You might not like that part of my comment :-).

Traxxas does make a $60 US charger that will charge much faster than the USB charger, which is an option too. But yea, if I were replacing the ESC, I'd do 10BL60 or 120 if I could get it to fit, just so I have some overhead to keep things cool. If the motor spins the wrong way, just swap two wires. That's about the only difficulty. The HW is an excellent ESC and HW is my general choice most of the time anywhere from my basic cars to race rigs. Their new Fusion 16 2-in-1 is freak'n awesome in the Grom and Mini-B
Have you seen the new Gens Ace smart packs? They are also being sold under the Amain brand as well. Very similar to the Spektrum, but the balance chip is in the balance wire. I'm testing some 4s packs to see how they compare to my Spektrum packs, and so far I like what I see. Only downside is that you don't get the Telemetry data on your transmitter if you go full Spektrum.

Actually I have. My son and I built up a Limitless and I picked up a couple of their 4s packs for testing. So far they are awesome and work quite well with the Imars D300 charger which is my go-to "generic" charger. My only complaint is that the smart connector is a little short making it a little more awkward compared to Spektrum. One thing I like about Spektrum batteries is that you can program the amount of time delay before the batteries will start to self-store. I have mine set to 96 hours. Do you know if the Gens Ace packs do this? Overall though, the quality of the packs, hard case and dead simple charging is really great!

I do not believe the Gens Ace packs will allow you to set the self-store rate like Spektrum batteries. Gens Ace smart lipos are like having an Traxxas ID connector that sets the charge rate on the charger, but with the bonus of Spektrum self-storage mode. It really does make getting into lipo's very safe. I can only say, I have purposely left a Gens Ace smart battery charged, and checked it after about 3 days, and the blue battery LED was showing 25% charge. Must be factory set at 48-96hrs depending on the capacity.

As a big LC Racing fan/owner even I would say we need some competition in the market. The LC Racing truggy is good but the short wheel base monster truck was lacking and there isnt much aftermarket support being a niche brand. Being a Traxxas will guarantee that the aftermarket will support it and I bet they even update the current mini slash with this chassis if it does well. I think the ARRMA GROM is doing really based on reviews so the market will be there for Traxxas especially with the holidays and the price point.

I wont bite as I have/love my long wheel base LC car but I think this is a good move for Traxxas regardless of how horrible of a brand they are!

Traxxas was at one time great...
Going after another brand with a law suite was NOT ACCEPTABLE
Competition is what its all about...
They could nationally apologize for that mistake
Then some of us old school senior RC enthusiasts will move on..
have a nice day

Traxxas is the Apple of the RC world. Both companies apply, and are granted patent rights on everything they can think of. Then they turn around and sue other companies over size, color, features that are similar. While I do not agree with these practices at all, they are legal. Traxxas is still a good company, their customer support is second to none. I question their pricing on some kits, but again much like Apple, people will pay for it. I will always say, if your not happy over a companies tactics, vote with your wallet. My wallet happens to like this mini Maxx release.

How is this release a month away and it's still not listed on Amain or HobbyTown? Are they anticipating a shortage so it's not worth advertising it?

Traxxas seems to like people to purchase directly from them or from brick and mortar. I have seen several releases on AMain that could only be purchased in store only for a period of time. I'm sure you will be able to purchase one from AMain closer to the release date or shortly after.

I also don't think Traxxas needs to advertise this product, it will sell itself and people already know about it.

I'm excited to see who compares the Mini Maxx with the Savage XS first. That will be a fun video.

I assume Traxxas is selling a lot of these, because they have already bumped the price by $10. The Mini Maxx is now 269.95.

You mean $20 as the original ws 249. Local hobby shops still show 150 so I wonder if this is a before Christmas freight hike or online only thing? I doubt it will ever come down from the site but I wonder if hobby shops will stay at the original price. Traxxas has sometimes had slightly higher prices online.
