Default issue with castle setup

i have the sidwinder 3 and castle motor in a rustler, worked great and was pretty fast.
one day the throttle would stop responding after a few seconds tried a couple batteries and it still did it. so i figured i toasted something and let it sit . now that was a few years ago, got it back out recently i tried a new battery, and turn off low voltage shut off to see if that was the issue but it wasn't. reached out to castle and they want me to send the motor and esc in. i may still do that, but figured i'd ask on here.
seems like once i go full throttle it shuts off and the orange and green light flashes. turn it off and on, it comes back up but does it again.

any idea if this is the esc or motor?

Have you tried a different receiver. The voltage cutoff has nothing to do with the problem you're having. Could be a bad motor. Try disconnecting one wire to the motor and see if the problem is the same. The ESc is cheap to replace than sending it in for service.

the steering still works so i was assuming the receiver was good, but i can try another one.
with 1 wire off the motor it shakes for a second then stops.

probably a dumb question, should the motor spin smoothly? i took it off and its spining its by hand its very clunky feeling almost like spining a socked on a ratchet feeling. again i put this in years ago and dont remember how it was when i got it.

If you removed one wire to the motor the motor shouldn't run. The esc will still work as it's suppose to. I suspect your motor is bad. Rebuild motor or buy a new one. A bad motor will shut down the ESC as you have described. Motor should spin freely.

I bet the bearings went out and that is causing you problem with the motor. Causing the ESC to shut down and reboot. The motor is locking and and the armature in not running true.

Recalibrate you Sidewinder. should take care of it. Look up the error code in the manual or look up flashing error code in Castle.

i tried that but it didnt help. the codes i believe was low votlage or something like that.
i did get a rebuilt kid for the motor but its not compatible. i have the old sensorless and the rotors are different. i'd like to just get a new motor but struggling to find something compatible with the spidwinder3, so i may just get a new esc and motor combo.

Download Castle Link, and adjust the Voltage Cutoff on the ESC. I think thats the omly way to adjust the Sidewinder.

Best to buy a new comp $120 new. and you can still run sensorless.. Then you can check the old ESC.
