Default TLR332067 Old style gear diff

I have two TLR332067 gear diffs laying around. I noticed they’re discontinued. Are they worth selling at all? Or are the 22 5.0 gear diffs what’s used in the 4.0 carpet cars that are still out there?

(Apologies for a big bump) Lookin to get back into racing, and I have a 4.0 buggy that I was racing pre pandemic. I am curious what parts availability is like for these cars? Would like to run this to get back in the groove before investing in a new kit. Thanks for any help

From memory most of the backend is the same as the 5.0 is was really just the chassis and front end steering that changed from 4.0 to 5.0 so you should be OK.

You are correct, its the chassis milling, and the front bulkhead that are the defining differences between the 4.0 and the 5.0, also the waterfall and battery holder are different.

All of the important bits that he would be most likely to break, like suspension arms and spindles, are either the same, or 100% compatible. Front spindles, the rear gear box components and the front and rear shock towers are all the same.

For tunability it might be worth getting the 5.0 C and D block and a set of pills. As well as the VLA rear spindles and updated stub axles. Then beat it until the Happy Hole shows up in the rear of the chassis, and upgrade.
AECUSN and Pistol123 like this.

This is excellent news, since I am hoping to stay cheap as I get back into it. Any other upgrades suggested?

Go to your local tracks hobby shop, and talk to them about what setups work for the track, and make decisions from there. Adding 5.0 parts compatibility is just the starting point, everything after that is going to be dependent on track conditions for setup.

Looking for this aluminum wing mount for the TLR 22 4.0. If you happen to have one laying around you, and looking to sell it let me know. Thanks! PayPal goods and services only. Also need photo proof with my name on a piece of paper next to the part, and date/or video before I even entertain you. Already got scammed by some douche bag for a 20 dollar part.

Decided to try racing again after a multiple year break break now that my local track switched to carpet, using my old 4.0 to go back without spending a ton. Good news is that in the first day back and the car is pretty competitive against local legends, which is awesome given that those guys are running latest xray and associated stuff, goes to say that the 4.0 is a great car. Bad news is that I broke a front shock tower and neither local shops or online have it in stock.

Does anyone know if the 5.0 front shock tower fits the 4.0? Either the standard TLR234102 or the +2 version. If anyone has one they are willing to part with, let me know!

The mounting hole spacing is different for the 4.0. Not interchangeable.
