Default Mod electronics

Hi all
Im getting into some electric TC racing again after being out of it for a number of years. I’ve always been a nitro tc guy but lately have been keen on the slightly simpler world of electric. I’m going to be using either an IF14-2 or an C4 but as for what’s considered a good esc and motor, I wouldn’t know. I’ve had Hobbywing in my X-ray T3 about 10 years ago and never had any issues. But I’ve also heard good things about Orca and Dash as well? I’d be running a 4.5t motor if that helps, my car years ago was set with a 5T motor. If anyone could shed some light, I’d be very appreciative!
thanks heaps!

Hobbywing is still a viable choice. The XR10 Pro will certainly handle a 4.5T motor. I run Hobbywing in everything from 1/12th pan cars to 1/8 off-road and have had pretty good luck with them. They have plenty of features and adjustments for tuning the ESC behavior to the track and your preferences.

I also use mostly (almost, but not quite, exclusively) Hobbywing by now, both On- and Off-Road, in both mod and stock classes. Quite happy with them, too.

Quikrun esc are also good and cheap ones. Hobbywing makes them as well.

Fine for bashing, but the Hobbywing website explicitly states "This ESC is NOT designed for a racing application"

I've had over a dozen hobbywing ESCs in various models over the years. Cars, planes, inrunner, outrunner... never a problem. Just wish I could use the OTA programmer on some of the older units!

I personally don’t have experience running them but I have buddies that do use em for carpet off-road and dirt oval and they seem to do fine.
