Default Throttle position on ESC radio issues

I have a Spektrum DX3S and bought a hobbywing motor and ecs combo. The instructions and YouTube video I've seen show when you turn the ecs on you also hold the set button, this puts it into setup mode. When i go through the throttle positions i can set natural and full throttle, but when i try to set brake\reverse if the ECS fails to respond. I've tried reversing throttle directions on the radio, tried different batteries. I have also reversed my steering and throttle servos and the throttle then controls with the steering server plugged into it.

This is the video i watched

Once i set the full throttle i never get those last 3 beeps confirming reverse has been set. Really shouldn't be this hard so was hoping someone had a suggestion.

For most esc calibrations, you have to set your throttle and brake at 100% in your radio 1st - some times it's easy to forget.

check to make sure the throttle has no trim applied, it needs to be perfectly zeroed out both throttle and brake... so if you have it set to 75/25 then it needs to be 50/50 as another example of a centered trim setting.

Hobbywings like the transmitter throttle setting to be in reverse. Make sure TH travel is set to 100%, Brake set to 100% and TH Sub trim is set to 0.

Reverse usually only for Futaba radios, not generally.

None of my Hobbywing ESCs care about the throttle channel direction, the calibration process sorts it out. The only ESC I've used that did care, is a Team Powers Radon.

you are all correct, I had the brake bias set. Zeroed all of them out and it works as it should. Thanks for the help!
